This page covers the website wowforever.be and the iOS app that goes with it.
There is no account, no login and no profile. The app never asks for a name, an email address or a phone number, and it has no analytics in it.
Two things, and only these two.
Notifications. If you allow notifications, the app sends the notification token that Apple issues for your device, the language you picked in the app, and whether the build is a test build or a released one. That token identifies a device to Apple's notification service, not a person. Turning notifications off in iOS stops the notifications; the stored token becomes unusable and is removed when Apple reports it as no longer valid.
Likes. Tapping the heart on an article sends the article and a random identifier that your device generates by itself and keeps locally. It is not derived from your device, your account or anything about you, and it exists so that the same article is not counted twice. The website does the same thing with a value in your browser's local storage.
Your language and theme, which articles you liked, and a copy of the news so the app opens without a connection. Deleting the app removes all of it.
Nothing you build is sent anywhere. A build lives in the link, which is why sharing one is copy and paste. Opening a shared link reads the build from the address and stores nothing.
The website uses Google Analytics to count visits. The likes work as described above. The site is served as static files by GitHub Pages, which, like any web server, logs requests.
The website shows, or may show, ads from Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your earlier visits to this website and to other websites. Google's advertising cookies let Google and its partners serve ads to you based on those visits.
In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, the website first asks for your consent, through a message from Google, before any cookie for ads is set. Without consent, Google shows only ads that do not use your personal data. You can change your choice through that message at any time.
You can turn off personalised ads from Google inGoogle's Ads Settings, and from other vendors at aboutads.info oryouronlinechoices.eu. How Google uses data from sites that show its ads is explained atpolicies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
A few news articles carry a YouTube video, a Reddit post, a post from X or a Twitch clip inside the page. Those frames load by themselves while you read the article, so YouTube, Reddit, X or Twitch sees your IP address and can set their own cookies, even if you never press play. Nothing about you is passed to them by us. The YouTube frames use youtube-nocookie.com, the frames from X carry Do Not Track, and only the article you are reading loads such a frame.
Clips carries one YouTube video of the site's own: the newest video from the site's channel. Streams does the same with the channel's live stream, while it is live. That frame loads by itself and starts playing without sound once it is on your screen, so YouTube sees your IP address on those pages too. To know whether the site's own stream is live, the Streams page asks a small function at Supabase, which asks YouTube; nothing about you is sent along.
The other clips and streams on Clips and Streams still load nothing from YouTube or Twitch until you click one.
Point at a link to Wowhead, such as an item on a BiS list or a recipe in a guide, and the tooltip you see comes from Wowhead. It is drawn by a script of theirs that loads only on a page with such a link, and only on a device with a real mouse, so on a phone or a tablet nothing is requested from Wowhead at all. Where it does load, Wowhead sees your IP address. The icons on the BiS lists and in the item cards are served by this site, so those cost you nothing with anyone else.
Notifications go through Apple. Likes and notification tokens are stored with Supabase. Visit counts go to Google Analytics, and ads come from Google AdSense. Tooltips come from Wowhead, as described above. The site is hosted by GitHub Pages. YouTube, Reddit, X and Twitch are involved only where their frames appear, as described above.
The app is not aimed at children and collects nothing that identifies anyone, of any age.
