Blizzard does not allow GDKP in World of Warcraft: Forever

GDKP is not allowed in World of Warcraft: Forever. Blizzard confirmed that during the live Q&A on 17 September, writes Wowhead. The studio wants to protect the social core of the game. Gold buyers face a harder line than before.

In a GDKP run the loot is auctioned for gold, and the pot is split among the raid at the end.

Blizzard sees the format take over from guilds. Once GDKP becomes common it overtakes the traditional guild structure, says the studio in the Q&A. That raises the barrier for new players, and it prices players with fewer resources out of content entirely.

The format also carries a stigma, according to Blizzard, because players link it closely to real money trading. Someone who feels pushed into buying gold hurts the economy, and bad actors use the runs to launder gold.

Blizzard calls itself too lenient on gold buyers in the past. It will crack down on them in Forever and watch the economy closely, so players can still afford to play, writes Wowhead. The site reads that as permanent bans, but Blizzard did not name a punishment.
