Blizzard keeps the Classic profession system in Forever and adds camping

Professions in World of Warcraft: Forever stay the system that WoW Classic players know. Fixed materials, fixed stats on crafted items, no overhaul like the one in Dragonflight. What is new are over 600 recipes, campsites and Legacy Points, Wowhead writes.

Camping turns a campfire into a stop

Players can place a campfire almost anywhere in the open world, which creates a campsite. At a campsite anyone can rest and use vendors, repairs, tradeskill workspaces and buffs, Wowhead writes.

Every player may place one object from their own professions at the site, which buffs everyone there. Those buffs are the same as familiar class buffs and do not stack. An Incense Candle from a Herbalist raises Intellect, but it does not combine with a Mage’s Arcane Intellect.

Over 600 new recipes

Forever adds more than 600 recipes across every profession and every level range. Many existing recipes have been reworked as well, so that professions mean something on the way to level 60 and not only at the end.

Professions feed the Legacy system

Levelling a tradeskill earns Legacy Points. The first time a tradeskill reaches 150, 225 and 300, a point comes with it, Wowhead writes. Those points go into the Legacy trees, and one of the three trees is Professions.

Perks in that tree raise the chance of a skill point and increase the amount of Scarce materials from Mining, Herbalism and Skinning. One perk mentions supply crates for the Azeroth Commerce Authority and Durotar Supply and Logistics, two factions players know from Season of Discovery. The full tree is in our Legacy calculator.

A gathering profession at level 3

Early in the journey, around level 3 or 4, a quest rewards a choice between three manuals: Herbalism, Mining or Skinning. The manual teaches the profession to players who do not have it yet and who have fewer than two professions.

Whether the numbers still change before launch, Blizzard has not said.
