Races and classes in WoW Forever: every combination

World of Warcraft: Forever has ten races, five per faction, and the nine classes of Classic. Blizzard opened six combinations that Classic never allowed and added the Skyborne, a new race that picks its faction at character creation. For the first time, every class can be played on both sides.

Classes	9, all of them on both factions
Combinations	56, 28 per faction
New compared to Classic	16: six for the old races, ten for the Skyborne
Skyborne	Skyborne Heroic Pack or a higher edition

What is new

Six combinations of the old races are new: Orc Mage, Troll Warlock and Undead Paladin for the Horde, Human Hunter, Gnome Priest and Dwarf Shaman for the Alliance. The announcement of 23 September covers them.

In Classic the Paladin belonged to the Alliance and the Shaman to the Horde. The Undead Paladin and the Dwarf Shaman end that split, so a player no longer has to change faction for a class.

The Skyborne

The Skyborne are a new race of elves. At character creation, a Skyborne chooses a faction, and that choice decides one class. Every Skyborne can be a Warrior, Hunter, Rogue or Druid. The High Order Skyborne of the Alliance add Mage, the Windshaper Skyborne of the Horde add Shaman.

The race requires the Skyborne Heroic Pack or a higher edition; the other eight races are part of the subscription. More on the editions and the starting zone, Zephras Isle, is on the WoW Forever page.

Racials

Blizzard changed several racials to fit the wider class list. The racials of every race, with what is new or changed, are on Classes.

Whether the table changes again before the launch on 4 November 2026, Blizzard has not said.
