A set pairs a Deadmines ring with a level 60 ring

Testers in the beta of World of Warcraft: Forever have found a set that spans the whole of levelling. Partners in Crime is made up of two rings, writes Wowhead. One drops in a low-level dungeon, the other asks for level 60.

The two rings

The First Mate Band is new and drops from Mr. Smite in the Deadmines, going by the reports so far. It sits at item level 22, needs level 17 and carries +6 Strength and +2 Stamina.

The other half is the Band of the Better Half, at item level 70. It needs level 60 and carries +18 Strength, +10 Stamina and +12 Expertise. Where the ring is found, is not known.

Both rings bind when picked up and are unique-equipped, so a character wears each of them once.

What the set does

Wearing both gives two bonuses, as the game shows them:

  • Chance on melee swing to become Angry, increasing Strength by 50 for 10 sec.
  • +20 Strength.

Both lines are listed as a two-piece bonus, so nothing fires until the level 60 ring is in place.

Why it matters for gearing

The epic half of the set is a level 60 item, and that is what makes it interesting, writes Wowhead. A player may be running the Deadmines for a very long time to come, well past the level at which the dungeon is normally left behind.

Other dungeons may carry the same idea, writes Wowhead: one item that is the first half of a set which cannot be completed until much later. Whether Blizzard designed more of these, the studio does not say.

It also gives the larger default bank something to do. Gear that only pays off dozens of levels later has to be kept somewhere.
