A trade warning targets gold buyers

World of Warcraft: Forever will warn players every time they trade with a stranger. The message points to the risk of gold from Real Money Transactions. Blizzard announced it on 1 October on the forums, along with new actions against bots and gold buyers.

Community manager Kaivax posted the announcement at 23.05 Belgian time. Blizzard keeps closing accounts on the beta that bot for gold, and accounts that bought or knowingly received that gold. That continues after launch, Kaivax writes.

The warning

The warning appears in every trade window with a player you do not know. Blizzard gives the text in full:

Be wary of accepting gold from unknown or suspicious sources. If the provider is engaged in Real Money Transactions, you could put your account at risk of closure. Please see the following support article for more information: https://support.blizzard.com/help/article/379634

When the warning arrives, Blizzard does not say. “Soon” is all the post gives. What counts as a stranger, for example someone outside your friends list or guild, is not explained either.

What happens to an account

Every player who generates, sells, buys or receives illicit gold risks three things: the gold is removed, the account is suspended, or it is closed for good. Blizzard calls its stance “crystal clear”:

Our stance on RMT in World of Warcraft is crystal clear: any account belonging to any player that is found to have participated in generating, selling, buying, or receiving illicit gold is subject to the gold being removed, account suspensions, or permanent account closures.

Earlier, Blizzard already banned GDKP raids in WoW Forever and gave Cultivation a level requirement against herb bots.
