Auction deposits go back to 1 copper

The minimum deposit of 1 silver per auction in World of Warcraft: Forever is going away. Principal game designer Kris Zierhut says in an interview that the floor goes back to 1 copper. When, he does not say: not yet, but soon.

Maybe the minimum price on the Auction House should be 1 Copper, and not 1 Silver for deposits. We were just talking about that one earlier today and after talking about it with people more, yes, we’re changing it back to one copper as the minimum deposit. That’s coming. Not yet, but coming.

What changes

This morning we explained how the deposit works now: every auction costs at least 1 silver, even for an item a vendor buys for a few copper. If the auction does not sell, that silver is gone. At low levels that adds up fast.

With a floor of 1 copper, the deposit follows the vendor price and the duration again, as in the original game:

Duration Deposit
2 hours 5% of the vendor price
8 hours 20% of the vendor price
24 hours 60% of the vendor price

For a Fine Leather Tunic (vendor price 4 silver 61 copper) over 8 hours, that is 92 copper instead of 1 silver. For cheap items the difference is much larger: a deposit of a few copper instead of 1 silver.
