Barrens rares now drop a set that speeds you up

Three rare spawns in the Barrens now drop gear that belongs to a set. Humar the Pridelord, Swiftmane and Takk the Leaper each carry a piece of Blessing of Kalimdor, and wearing two of the three gives 5 percent movement speed in the Barrens and Stonetalon Mountains.

The three pieces

Item Slot Item level Stats
Signet of the Zhevra Finger 23 +6 Agility, +2 Spirit
Mark of the Pack Leader Neck 25 +5 Strength, +5 Intellect
Raptor Hide Cloak Back 21 19 Armor, +4 Stamina, +3 Spirit

The set counts three items and the bonus lands at two, so the third is a choice rather than a requirement. All three bind when picked up.

Why this changes farming a rare

A rare spawn in Classic is a detour: you kill it if you pass it, and the loot is usually one blue that may or may not fit. A set bonus turns that into a goal. Three rares in one zone, a known reward, and a buff that pays off in the zone you are already levelling in.

The Barrens is enormous, and 5 percent for the whole crossing plus Stonetalon is worth more while levelling than the stats on any single piece.

This is not the first set Forever hands out at low level. The Defias Leather from Deadmines and the Embrace of the Viper from Wailing Caverns already carry updated bonuses. Whether the other famous rares across Kalimdor and the Eastern Kingdoms get the same treatment, Blizzard has not said.
