The Black Market sells Dungeon Set 1 for 100 gold or more
WoW Forever has a Black Market Auction House, in the new zone The Riverglades. Madam Swyndle sells pieces of Dungeon Set 1 there for 100 gold or more, plus pets, a tabard and a toy. Wowhead found her on the beta.
Where the Black Market is
The Black Market Auction House first appeared in Mists of Pandaria, in patch 5.0.4, and has been part of retail WoW since. In Forever it sits in The Riverglades, the new zone north of Redridge Mountains for levels 30 to 45.
It is not at Farholde Keep, the new stronghold of the zone. The agents stand at Powderfuse Port, a small goblin outpost on the river, at /way 78.1 51.9, according to Wowhead.

Two goblins with the title Agent of the Black Market wait there. Madam Swyndle runs the Black Market itself. Mister Graphed sells crafting reagents and other goods.
What Madam Swyndle sells
Most of the gear on offer comes from Dungeon Set 1, the blue dungeon sets of original Classic. Each piece costs 100 gold or more. Wowhead lists four pieces it found, from three sets.
The pieces bind when picked up, as in Classic. Whether a player bids on them as on the retail Black Market or pays a fixed price, Wowhead does not say.
The sets work differently in Forever
The names are the same, the pieces are not. The tooltips of Wowhead for Forever and for Classic Era show the changes side by side.
- Every piece has spell power of its own. Magister’s Robes add 11, Boots of Elements 14. In Classic those pieces had none.
- The bonuses come sooner. Forever gives bonuses up to six pieces, Classic up to eight. The +8 All Resistances moves from eight pieces to two, and the spell power bonus from four pieces to three.
- The +200 Armor bonus is gone. It was the two-piece bonus of every set.
- The effect when struck comes at four pieces. Magister’s Regalia freezes the attacker and Dreadmist Raiment makes it flee, each with a 2% chance and a one-minute cooldown. In Classic that came at six pieces, without a number. The Elements now disarm the attacker, with a 5% chance.
- The fifth piece adds an effect on spellcast. Magister’s Regalia returns 200 mana and Dreadmist Raiment heals for 270 to 330. The Elements give up to 65 spell power for 10 seconds, where Classic gave 95 at six pieces.
- The sixth piece restores 8 mana per 5 seconds, on all three sets.
Some stats went down to make room. Magister’s Robes have 28 Intellect, down from 31. Dreadmist Mantle lost its 9 Spirit, and Magister’s Crown lost its 5 Spirit and 1 Stamina.
| Pieces | Classic Era | WoW Forever |
|---|---|---|
| 2 | +200 Armor | +8 All Resistances |
| 3 | nothing | up to 18 spell power |
| 4 | up to 23 spell power | an effect when struck, 2% or 5% chance, 1 min cooldown |
| 5 | nothing | an effect on spellcast |
| 6 | an effect of the set | 8 mana per 5 sec |
| 8 | +8 All Resistances | no longer a bonus |
The same approach showed up in the Embrace of the Viper from Wailing Caverns: old set names with bonuses that go further than they used to.
Pets, a tabard and an ogre
The Black Market does not stop at gear. Wowhead found four pets among the items.
The Sprite Darter Egg and the Hippogryph Hatchling are pets from the original game; the hatchling came from a loot card of the World of Warcraft Trading Card Game. The two lashling buds are new items.
Two more collectibles from those loot cards were on sale: the Tabard of Flame and the Carved Ogre Idol, which turns a player into a hulking purple ogre for 10 minutes.
What is not known
Wowhead writes that Forever has “even more agents” of the Black Market, but not where the others stand. How often the stock changes, and whether the prices hold at launch, is not known either. The headline of Wowhead mentions mounts, but none is listed among the items. What Mister Graphed sells exactly is not listed.
Everything about the Black Market is in the BMAH guide: where Powderfuse Port is, who sells what, and the sets side by side.
