Blizzard opens Portal Room and warns Oceania

Blizzard opened the WoW Portal Room, its official Discord server, to World of Warcraft: Forever players on 27 October. The same evening, a bug hit name reservation in Oceania: players there must create Roleplay characters before Normal or PvP ones.

Roleplay first in Oceania

Kaivax of Blizzard posted the warning on the forums at 21:02 Belgian time, two minutes after name reservation opened in North America. On the Australian servers, once you create a character on Normal or PvP, Roleplay and Roleplay-PvP are no longer available for your next characters.

So anyone who wants a Roleplay character there has to make it first. According to Blizzard, only Oceanic players who connect to Australian servers are affected, and a fix is being worked on urgently. When it arrives, and whether players who already lost the option get it back, is not known.

Players in the same thread also report disconnects and being sent back to the queue, in North America too. Blizzard has not said anything about that yet. What sets the five rulesets apart is in the rulesets guide.

The WoW Portal Room

The WoW Portal Room is the official World of Warcraft Discord server. Blizzard calls it a starting point for finding friends, groups and communities: “a gateway, not the final destination.”

WoW Ambassadors run the welcome. They are experienced players who each represent their own Discord community, and they point new and returning players to a place that fits how they like to play. You join through the invite link.
