Forever features could come to Retail
Features of World of Warcraft: Forever could also come to Retail. Asked about the transmog changes, Holly Longdale immediately answered yes. Longdale and Clay Stone spoke to Fiamma at PAX Australia. Playing across regions is not possible yet.
The interview appeared on 12 October on the YouTube channel of Fiamma, a creator who focuses on collecting. Longdale is Executive Producer of World of Warcraft, Stone Associate Production Director of WoW Classic.
Forever in Retail
What fits each game still has to be discussed, says Longdale. Longdale will raise it with Ion Hazzikostas, the game director of Retail. Which features could make the move, and when, is not known.
No play across regions yet
Forever is the first version of WoW without realms: players only choose a ruleset. That works well on the beta, but for now it goes no further. Playing across regions comes with technical hurdles. Blizzard does not rule it out, but needs time.
Character cap not announced
How many characters a player can create at launch, Blizzard has not announced. There are technical limits to it.
Feedback from everywhere
The team reads feedback everywhere: the forums, Reddit, social media, YouTube videos and their comments. Big topics always reach the team. After that it comes down to priority, how fast the team can get to it and whether it agrees the change is right for the game. Feedback also comes from inside: Blizzard has employees who are avid collectors, and some developers on the Forever team play more Retail than Classic.
Art and mounts
Forever follows a different art and training path than Retail, with a lot of training and mentoring. Stone plays an Orc and names a Dire Wolf as favourite mount. Longdale prefers the Friendship Fox for now. Longdale played from the launch of WoW and was in its first beta. Stone started in 2006, just before The Burning Crusade.
