Horde Druids and Shamans get a relic at level 5
Horde Druids and Shamans can equip a relic at level 5 in WoW Forever. The quest Meddlesome Mages in the Skyborne starting area rewards an idol and a totem. The Alliance cannot take it, as the beta shows.
Classic has always kept some things for one faction: mounts, quests, easy access to recipes. This is a small one, but it comes very early.
How to get the quest
The quest sits in Shen’dar Village on Zephras Isle. First comes Welcome to Shen’dar Village, where you speak with Illaya Amberwind and the innkeeper Coriella Calmbreeze. Amberwind then offers Meddlesome Mages: slay six High Order Apprentices in Shen’dar Highlands.
It is not a quest for Skyborne only. A Tauren Druid on the beta went from Mulgore to the new Skywatcher Plateau, where a zeppelin flies to Valanaar, and from there reached Zephras Isle. Whether an account without the Skyborne Heroic Pack can make that trip, is not known.
Alliance characters get nowhere. Even after the journey, Amberwind will not talk to Druids and Shamans of the Alliance any further.
What the relics do
The Windcharged Leaf is an idol for Druids and lowers the mana cost of shapeshifting by 40. The Windcarved Effigy is a totem for Shamans and makes
Lightning Bolt cost 5 mana less. Both are item level 6 and bind when picked up.
On the first ranks of Lightning Bolt, 5 mana is a third to a sixth of the cost. The spell costs little anyway and is used less, because its base damage was lowered. A Druid gains most when shifting out of a form to break a slow, since powershifting matters little before level 20.
For both classes the relic slot usually stays empty for a long time. Whether the Alliance gets a comparable quest elsewhere is not known.
