Unbowed asks if a Forsaken can serve the Light

Blizzard has released Unbowed, a short story for World of Warcraft: Forever. It follows Cormack, a former Scarlet Crusader raised as Forsaken, who wonders whether he can still serve the Light. A narrated video of 6 minutes appeared on 26 October.

Blizzard describes the story like this:

Cormack, a former Scarlet Crusader in life, now raised as Forsaken, struggles to accept his undead existence. After confronting both his past and the beliefs that defined him, he is left to ask himself: can a Forsaken still serve the Light?

Who made it

Sean Copeland wrote the story, Surfside 3D made the illustrations and Jesse Burch narrates as Cormack. The video is a fireside telling, with the drawings on screen. The full story is a PDF of 23 pages. Chris Metzen and Joshua Greenfield are among the names under game team consultation.

How it starts

The story opens with a Scarlet Crusader executing a Forsaken woman while two Paladins cheer. Cormack watches from the bushes and recognises the voice of Arec Mistmantle: a distant relative, a friend, a brother in arms and his own murderer. When the Light gathers in his hands, it heals his dead skin and burns at the same time.

The question fits a change in the game: Forever adds Undead Paladins, a combination that Classic never had.
