36 duelists reach the Forever Open finals
The first day of The Forever Open, the dueling tournament on the beta of World of Warcraft: Forever, is over. Of the 1,380 players who checked in, 36 reach the finals today: four per class. Paladins and Warlocks proved the strongest.
Every player fought six rounds of one duel each, where possible against another class. Winners met winners, as in a chess tournament. Another 233 players withdrew and 103 were disqualified.
Four finalists per class
| Class | Players | Finalists |
|---|---|---|
| Druid | 99 | Sodapoppin 6-0, Desmondhume 5-0-1, Minpojke 5-1, Snupy 5-1 |
| Hunter | 241 | Fvp 6-0, Hardfight 6-0, Danmark 5-1, Ryhaz 5-1 |
| Mage | 89 | Yonezka 6-0, Allyana 5-1, Venruk 5-1, Teleporter 5-1 |
| Paladin | 134 | Gomzy 6-0, Lamelol 6-0, Reed 6-0, Azzu 6-0 |
| Priest | 201 | Psychapeute 6-0, Dakkroth 6-0, Nieze 6-0, Lash 6-0 |
| Rogue | 171 | Pshero 6-0, Justwoo 6-0, Chopmaster 5-1, Kyroo 5-1 |

| Warrior | 80 | Mag 5-1, Disruptive 5-1, Fracc 5-1, Bcw 5-1 |
A record of 5-0-1 means five wins and one draw. All four Paladin finalists and all four Warlock finalists won six out of six. Both classes had more undefeated players than places, so a playoff decided who went through. Priests also send four undefeated players.
Hunters and Shamans had the most players. Warriors had the fewest and are the only class without an undefeated finalist: all four went 5-1. The full standings are on Raider.IO.
The finals today
The finals are played today, 18 October, in Hyjal Crater, a part of the map Blizzard opened for the event. The overall winner takes 50,000 dollars, and the best player of each class 5,555 dollars, together close to the 100,000 dollars in prizes. Esfand and Xaryu broadcast the tournament on Twitch, and every finalist streams their own view.
