Both factions can play all nine classes

Every class in WoW Forever can be played by the Alliance and the Horde. The Undead Paladin and the Dwarf Shaman close the old split between the factions. A new guide shows in two tables which race can play which class.

In Classic the Paladin was an Alliance class and the Shaman a Horde class. The table that Blizzard published on 23 September gives the Paladin to the Undead and the Shaman to the Dwarves. Each faction now has 28 combinations of race and class.

What is new

Sixteen combinations are new. Six belong to the old races: Orc Mage, Troll Warlock, Undead Paladin, Human Hunter, Gnome Priest and Dwarf Shaman. The other ten are the Skyborne, who choose a faction at character creation. Every Skyborne can be a Warrior, Hunter, Rogue or Druid; the High Order add Mage, the Windshapers Shaman.

Warrior is the only class open to every race, Paladin has the fewest with three. The guide Races and classes also lists the races per class, and the racials are on Classes. Whether the table changes before launch, Blizzard has not said.
