Escort NPCs can vanish at zone borders

Three escort NPCs in World of Warcraft: Forever can disappear near a zone border, and the quest fails. Blizzard is investigating, its customer support writes. The same goes for an Undead Paladin quest where healing does not always count.

Three escorts

An escort quest fails at once when the NPC dies, or in this case simply disappears. Blizzard’s customer support left the same message under three quests:

Quest NPC Zone
Freedom to Ruul Ruul Snowhoof Ashenvale
Free From the Hold Gilthares Firebough The Barrens
The Defias Brotherhood Defias Traitor Westfall

We’re aware that Ruul/Gilthares Firebough/Defias Traitor may disappear when moving near or across zone and area boundaries, causing the quest to fail. We’re already investigating the issue.

Rediscovering the Light

One of the first quests of an Undead Paladin is Rediscovering the Light. You heal Injured Deathguard with Holy Light, but that healing sometimes gives no progress.

We’re aware that healing Injured Deathguards may not grant progress and we’re already investigating the issue.

When a fix follows, Blizzard does not say. Another escort did get help in the first hotfixes: Deathstalker Erland respawns much faster.
