Forever runs on 3,924 virtual machines

World of Warcraft: Forever runs on 3,924 virtual machines with 251,136 GB of memory and 70,480 CPU cores. Blizzard shared the numbers on X the day after the launch, with a car salesman meme.

Slaps Roof of WoW: Forever This baby is running on: 3,924 Virtual Machines 251,136 GB of Memory 70,480 CPU Cores

That is about 245 terabytes of memory, or 64 GB and 18 cores per virtual machine on average.

No realms

Forever has no realms. You only choose a ruleset: Normal, PvP, RP or RP-PvP. Layers split the players over copies of the world, and that hardware carries all of them. The launch went smoothly, but since then some players find their layer too empty. Blizzard is tweaking that, and players found a trick with the language setting.
