Forever stays on PC and Mac, but plays with a controller
World of Warcraft: Forever is not coming to Xbox. Xbox UK put the game in a post about new Xbox games for November, with a picture of Forever. The post was removed and replaced by a version without Forever. Xbox UK then confirmed that Forever is not available on Xbox and only comes through Battle.net on PC and Mac.
The first post had started talk about a console version, because Forever supports a controller. That talk is over for now.
A controller works everywhere
In the development notes of 2 November, Blizzard says gamepad support is in a complete, working state. All major gameplay and the core interface work with a controller: moving, spells, interacting and the menus. You set it up in Edit Mode and in the options.
The latest changes:
| Part | What changed |
|---|---|
| Targeting | Select your Focus Target with LB + RB + the lower face button, target friendly corpses, critters, and enemy players with or without a PvP flag |
| Action bars | Items with an area effect can be placed on the ground, confirmed with the same button |
| Bags | New bag screen with free space, ammo count, Keyring and search |
| Flight paths | End a flight early with Back: you land at the next flight point |
| Pets | The Pet Move command works with a controller |
| Ruleset and cinematics | Pick a ruleset and skip cinematics with a controller |
| Addons | Fewer conflicts between the gamepad interface and addons |
Pop-ups no longer take the focus of your controller on their own. Controller support was first announced together with the training costs of mounts. The other tools built into the game are in our guide to the built-in UI tools.
