No protection for low levels on PvP realms
World of Warcraft: Forever gets no protection for low-level players who are killed again and again on a PvP realm. Josh Greenfield, known as Aggrend, said so in episode 4 of the developer podcast, when the streamer Savix asked whether such a protection was planned:
The short answer is: no. PvP occurs on a PvP server. It has been true for 22 years of this game. That’s something you gotta look inward and ask yourself if you are ok with…. You may have a frustrating game session because that just happens.
Players on PvP realms have asked for it for years: a way to stop a high-level player from camping a low-level one. The answer is the same as in the original game. Whoever plays on a PvP realm accepts it.
China does it differently
The Titan Reforged realms, a version of classic World of Warcraft that runs only in China, do have such a protection. When a player or a pet kills a player who is at least 5 levels lower, the victim gets a protection aura for 1 hour. It makes the player and the pet immune to damage from characters 5 or more levels higher.
The aura is meant to let the player escape or recover, not to fight back. Group heals, area heals and buffs on teammates remove it quickly. Forever gets nothing like it.
Choose your realm with care
Forever has one megaserver per rule set: Normal, PvP and RP, where RP has no open PvP. On a PvP rule set a player picks one faction, and moving a character to another rule set will most likely not be possible. Whoever does not want to be camped, picks Normal or RP.
Only where Blizzard turns on PvP for an event in the world may it add some help, such as a short immunity after a resurrection. The rest of the PvP plans, from less Honor in Alterac Valley to premades against premades, are in our post about the podcast.
