Secret hunters chase hidden pages across Azeroth

Players on the beta of World of Warcraft: Forever have found a trail of hidden pages, keys and caches across Azeroth. The clues seem to be based on the old printed manuals of the game. Where the hunt leads, and whether it ends in a reward, is not known.

The search runs in the WoW Secret Finding Discord, a community of players who hunt for secrets in the game. They ask everyone on the beta to report new finds. Two pages from the old manuals show what the clues refer to: the Places of Mystery and the map of Azeroth.

What has been found so far

The objects below form one trail, in this order.

Object Where /way Gives
Burnt Page Arathi Highlands, in a barrel next to the Cozy Sleeping Bag at Thoradin’s Wall. The climb starts in Hillsbrad Foothills at /way 87.6 47.9. 22.7 24.2 A clue
Torn Page Undercity, in a barrel at the back entrance of the sewers. Since the maintenance of 24 September a knife lies next to it. 22.9 36.2 Keystone Fragment
Small pack The Riverglades, behind a sleeping Twilight Peon. Jump down from /way 26.7 47.7. 26.6 45.6 Stone Key
Burnt Page Blasted Lands, in Dreadmaul Hold. It needs the Stone Key. 45.2 16.5 A clue
Hidden Stash Un’Goro Crater, in Ringo’s cave, entrance at /way 52.5 51.1. It only shows with the Night Watchman’s Torch lit. 52.2 49.6 Not known yet

The Stone Key first lay inside Blackrock Mountain. Blizzard moved it to The Riverglades during the beta, as the same object.

Three more finds may belong to the hunt, or may be a coincidence. A Hidden Stash in Stonetalon Mountains at /way 40.7 52.8 holds a Brittle Key. A Traveler’s Cache in Stranglethorn Vale at /way 14.4 27.2 holds a Torn Page. Stormwind has a note at /way 67.2 82.5 that is new in Forever.

What the pages say

The burnt page in Arathi points to the sewers of Undercity. Part of its text was removed from the game on 8 October.

Living death on this page you will see. Only will you find the key if you look beneath mindless undeath. Sewer’s trail, a toxic tail.

The torn page in Undercity points to page 155 of the old manual. It also holds three pictures.

The furrowed gaze of the orcish warrior lays upon the map, and reveals the key.

The burnt page in the Blasted Lands describes three places, which seem to match the Places of Mystery in the manual. The torn page in Stranglethorn holds a single line: “The calm comes before the storm”.

Behind three places of mystery is a map. The top of the key is within the first body. The key is under ogre protection and lies on the other side of the warding there. The tomb in the middle is where the next piece will be found. A shallow mark below the guardian: look behind, and you will find what you seek. Surging with pride and overflowing with heat. Shine light through this passage to see a peak. On the other side, a careful span, the last of your key.

Two fragments are still missing

The files of the beta hold two more Keystone Fragments that nobody has found in the game yet. One stacks to two, the other to three. Blizzard has changed and moved these items during the beta, which points to a goal at the end. Whether that is an attunement or a reward, is not known.

The hunters now look at Uldaman. That is a tough trip for characters of level 30, the cap of the beta.
