Hall of Thanes quests: all five in WoW Forever

The Hall of Thanes is the dungeon under Old Ironforge, for levels 13 to 18, and five quests belong to it. Each one gives between 3,900 and 4,900 experience, according to Wowhead, so a run with all five is one of the biggest early boosts in WoW Forever. Warcraft Tavern mapped where every quest starts.

Start with the chain in Dun Morogh. It is the only quest that does not begin at the dungeon, and it asks for the final boss, so it pays to have it before the first pull.

Earthseer Farsen stands at /way 64.8 58.5 in Dun Morogh. He gives Nip ’Em in the Bud: slay 10 Dark Iron Spies, found around /way 76.7 60.7. Wowhead adds that the road to Farsen starts with A Visitor to Dun Morogh, from Beldin Steelgrill at Steelgrill’s Depot.

One of the spies drops a Dark Iron Map. Use it from your bags to start a short quest that sends you back to Farsen. He then hands out Old Ironforge Incursion: enter the Hall of Thanes and bring back the head of Durgen Dirgehammer.

Important Heirlooms

Thom Filch waits by the bridge that leads into the Hall of Thanes. He asks for 8 Dwarven Heirlooms.

The heirlooms lie all over the dungeon, most of them on raised, candle-lit platforms in the corridors. There is no need to fight the group for them. The vaults in the last room, the Reliquary of Kings, hold enough for everyone, writes Warcraft Tavern.

The Restless Dead

Afadra Dunwall, a Lorekeeper of Ironforge, stands up a flight of stairs on the way to the entrance. She wants 15 Enraged Apparitions and 10 Tormented Souls dead. Those are the ghosts in the first chambers of the dungeon. The quest text also asks to put the spirit of Anvilmar to rest.

An Ancient Grudge

A Ghostly Attendant waits in the second room of the dungeon, Anvilmar’s Rest. She asks you to put the spirit of Faldrim Anvilmar, the first boss, to rest.

There is no hurry to hand it in. Whoever leaves without a Hearthstone passes her again on the way out, writes Warcraft Tavern.

The final boss and the vault

Behind a vault door in the same room lies a tablet that starts The Treaty of Understanding. It is a quest for experience only: take the treaty to King Magni Bronzebeard in Ironforge. The head goes to him as well. After the boss a switch in the back vault opens the locked doors, so the way out is short, writes Wowhead.

Wowhead lists no item for The Restless Dead and The Treaty of Understanding.

Getting there

The door to Old Ironforge is on the left just inside the High Seat in Ironforge, writes Wowhead. A path leads down to the portal. The dungeon is the Alliance counterpart of Ragefire Chasm. The Horde can go in, but faces a long trip through the Wetlands and Loch Modan and past the guards of Ironforge.

Who may take the quests is not clear. The news article of Wowhead calls all five Alliance only. The dungeon guide on the same site makes an exception for Important Heirlooms and An Ancient Grudge.
