Dungeon quests give 50% less bonus experience

Dungeon quests in the World of Warcraft: Forever beta give less experience since 1 October. The bonus on top of normal quest experience is cut by 50%. Blizzard does it because testers level too fast, says the patch note of the level 30 build.

The change is in the development notes of the new build:

Developers’ notes: We’ve heard a great deal of feedback about playtesterse leveling too fast. In this build, we’re reducing the experience granted by dungeon quests.

Dungeon quests now reward 50% less extra experience beyond normal quest values.

Only the extra part shrinks. A dungeon quest still gives at least as much as a normal quest of its level, plus half of the former bonus.

Why dungeon quests were worth so much

Blizzard moved dungeon experience from kills to quests in Forever. Monsters in a dungeon give little, the quests a lot. In The Hall of Thanes a monster gave 28 to 30 experience and each quest 3,900 to 4,900, according to Wowhead.

That drew criticism from two sides, writes Wowhead. Some players feared that the quest bonus made levelling too fast. Others found that the low experience from monsters made a second run through a dungeon pointless. The new build answers the first group. For repeat runs nothing changes.

How much a dungeon quest gives now, Blizzard does not say in numbers. Whether the experience from monsters goes up again, the notes do not mention either.
