Ten known issues arrive with the new beta build
Blizzard updated the list of known issues for the WoW Forever beta on 24 September, alongside the notes of the new build. Five entries are fixed. Ten new ones take their place, seven of them in the Cooldown Manager.
Both threads come from community manager Kaivax on the Blizzard forums. The development notes list what changed in the build. The known issues list what does not work yet, and it has been updated since the beta opened on 17 September. What the build means for respecs, quests and the Cooldown Manager is in an earlier post, the changes per class in a separate post.
Five fixes from the list
- Starshards, the racial of Night Elf Priests, now benefits from the
Twilight Focus talent. - Vengeance, a Retribution Paladin talent, no longer activates from periodic critical strikes. Its maximum drops to 3 stacks.
Holy Strike feels like an upgrade with every rank: from 25% to 50% of weapon damage, instead of two ranks at a time.- In Teldrassil, Sentinel Lynessa Duskblossom no longer runs too fast during the quest Escaping Ban’ethil and stops spamming her Strike ability.
- In Loch Modan the quest Snowbound gave more experience than intended. That is adjusted.
Three entries still read “fixed in the next beta build” without the development notes mentioning them: the Waylaid Crates, the tooltip of
Create Firestone ranks 3 and 4, and Coldridge Valley not revealing on the map. Whether they work in this build, Blizzard does not say.
New with this build
The Cooldown Manager accounts for seven of the ten new entries. It cannot track the cooldown of a Healthstone, pet cooldowns,
Arcane Blast or weapon enhancements such as Windfury and Rogue poisons. Banes and Curses lose their tracking when you drop a target and pick up a target that already carries them. A Mana Gem only starts tracking after the Mage casts another spell, and a Priest tracks all spells by default.
The other three are broader. Creating or changing a group can move players to another instance of the world; Blizzard is working on improvements and promises an update soon. The minimap in Stormwind displays incorrectly until a later build, and the Personal Resource Display does not show combo points.
Still open since the start
Several issues from the first week are still on the list. Blizzard marks most of them as work in progress.
- The character pane does not show level, class or titles.
- Pets on the character sheet: Warlock pets show no Mana and the wrong Health from Stamina. For Hunter and Warlock pets the Hit scaling, Expertise and movement speed are missing or wrong.
- Glancing blows: for casters both the chance and the damage reduction are wrong at every level. For melee the chance is correct, but the damage reduction against higher-level targets is not. The glancing blow values on the character sheet are therefore not accurate.
- Armor bonuses from consumables and buffs are multiplied by the armor bonus of
Bear Form. - Queueing
Heroic Strike, Cleave or
Raptor Strike disables the spell queue window. - Taking damage while channeling
Arcane Missiles fires a bolt at full damage instead of a shortened one. - Resurrection sickness lasts the wrong time at lower levels.
- Barber chairs cause a Lua error. Pressing Y before level 25 opens the Legacy system with Lua errors on tabs 1 and 3.
- Character friends are disabled in the beta, and the minimap can sit partly off screen.
- Guild charters sometimes cannot be signed. Until that is fixed, a charter can be handed in without signatures.
