You can spend 16 Legacy points, and earn more for a bear
Legacy is the account-wide progression of World of Warcraft: Forever, and at the launch you can spend at most 16 points in it. Points you earn above that are not lost: they still count for the reward track, which ends with the
Reins of the Spectral Bear at 55 points. Here is what to know before the launch.
One point per challenge, once per account
Every Legacy challenge is worth one point. There are six categories. Classes and Professions fill up as you play: a class to level 25, 45 and 60, a tradeskill to 150, 225 and 300. PvP and Dungeons ask more of you. Novice Spelunker, for example, needs Ruins of Lordaeron, Wailing Caverns, The Deadmines, Shadowfang Keep, Excavation Site: Wetlands, and Ragefire Chasm or Hall of Thanes.
Each challenge counts once for the whole account. A second Druid to level 25 gives nothing; a Mage to level 25 does. Your first character earns the points slowly, but every next character starts with them.
16 points in three trees
The points go into three trees: Professions, Adventure and
Resourcefulness. Blizzard caps the total at 16 points, at the launch and for some time after. That is not enough for everything, so you choose.
| Tree | For | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Professions | Tradeskills and gathering | |
| Adventure | Levelling, exploring, the open world | |
| Resources, reputation and buffs |
Talented is the node most players look at. With 5 ranks you get talent points from level 5 instead of level 10, but never more than 51. Our class guides call those builds the Talented version. All nodes are in the Legacy calculator.
A wrong choice is not permanent. In the beta, unlearning your class talents at a trainer also reset the Legacy trees. Whether that stays the same at the launch, is not known.
The reward track
The Legacy bar goes much further than 16. Every point you earn counts for the reward track, also the ones you cannot spend:
| Points | Reward |
|---|---|
| 15 | |
| 25 | Spectral Bear Cub |
| 40 | |
| 55 | Reins of the Spectral Bear |
Hardcore works one way
Normal, PvP, RP and RP-PvP share all challenges and points. Hardcore does not. What you earn on Hardcore counts on the other rulesets too, but nothing from the other rulesets carries over to Hardcore. Hardcore arrives after the launch. More in our rulesets guide.
WoW Forever launches on 5 November at 00:00 Belgian time.
