Feral Druid leveling guide

Classic EraLevel 1-60Melee DPS

Feral is the fastest way to level a Druid in Classic Era. Bear Form at level 10 carries the early levels, and Cat Form at level 20 turns the Druid into a hunter that stalks and kills enemies one by one. You can shift out of form to heal yourself, so you rarely die, and Leader of the Pack at level 40 helps every group you join. In Classic Era the Druid is only for Night Elves and Taurens.

Strengths and weaknesses

  • Cat Form kills single enemies quickly, and Bear Form takes a beating.
  • Shift out of form to heal yourself, then shift back, so you rarely rest for health.
  • Travel Form, Aquatic Form and Feline Swiftness make you fast on the map.
  • Every shift costs mana, so a long fight with heals drains you quickly.

Talents by level

Level 10 to 30

  • Ferocity 5/5 and Thick Hide 5/5.
  • Feline Swiftness 2/2 and Sharpened Claws 3/3.
  • Blood Frenzy 2/2, Predatory Strikes 3/3 and Faerie Fire (Feral) at level 30.

Level 31 to 40

  • Savage Fury 2/2 and Primal Fury 2/2.
  • Heart of the Wild 5/5, then Leader of the Pack at level 40.

Level 41 to 60

  • Furor 5/5 in Restoration, for 40 Energy every time you shift into Cat Form.
  • In Balance: Nature’s Grasp, Improved Nature’s Grasp 4/4, Natural Weapons 5/5, Natural Shapeshifter 3/3 and Omen of Clarity.
  • Feral Charge, for 32 points in Feral.

Rotation

One enemy

  • Before level 20: Bear Form, Demoralizing Roar and Maul.
  • From level 20: Cat Form and Prowl up to the enemy, open with Rake, build combo points with Claw and finish with Rip or Ferocious Bite.
  • Faerie Fire (Feral) lowers the enemy’s armor and works in Cat Form.

Two enemies

  • Bear Form: Demoralizing Roar, Swipe and Maul, and Bash on the enemy that hits hardest.
  • Outdoors, Entangling Roots holds one enemy while you kill the other.

Staying alive

  • Shift out, cast Rejuvenation and Healing Touch, then shift back.
  • Bear Form, and Frenzied Regeneration from level 36, when you take too much damage.
  • Dash, or Travel Form from level 30, to get away.

Stats, weapons and tradeskills

  • Strength and Agility first, then Crit and Hit. Stamina helps in Bear Form.
  • In Cat and Bear Form a weapon only adds its stats, so pick one with Strength, Agility or attack power instead of damage.
  • Enchants: Agility on the gloves, and Strength on the bracers.
  • Tradeskills: Skinning with Leatherworking for leather armor, or Herbalism with Alchemy for potions.
