Camping in WoW Forever: campfires, camp objects and buffs

Camping is a new system in WoW Forever. Someone lights a campfire, every tradeskill adds an object around it, and anyone who sits there for a minute gets the buffs. Higher tiers add workstations, a vendor and a repair bot.

The campfire

Every camp starts with a campfire from Cooking. You need Flint and Tinder and one piece of wood. Right-click the kit, pick a spot, and the fire burns for about 10 minutes.

Campfire Blueprint Kit usable at Wood Room for
Basic Campfire Cooking trainer Cooking 1 Simple Wood 3 objects
Journeyman Campfire Blueprint: Journeyman Campfire (Cooking 90) Cooking 140 Star Wood 5 objects
Expert Campfire Blueprint: Expert Campfire (Cooking 200) Cooking 220 Thick Logs 10 objects

The Journeyman blueprint drops in The Deadmines and Wailing Caverns, writes Warcraft Tavern. For the Expert blueprint no source is known yet.

How the buffs work

Near a fire you get Campfire Nearby. Type /sit, and after a minute Welcoming Campfire turns into Camp Benefits, one buff that holds every effect of the camp. Hover over it to see which ones you have. Sitting down again adds the effects of objects placed later.

Each camp buff is a weaker copy of a class buff and does not stack with it. The Camp Tent is the only one with a cooldown of its own: after it you get Boosted Rest for an hour.

Tier 1: the buff of every tradeskill

The tooltips show the buffs in steps; the table gives the highest step. What decides the step, the tooltip does not say.

Tier 2 and 3: workstations and services

A higher object keeps the buff of tier 1 and adds something. It can be placed over a lower one of the same tradeskill in the same camp, without waiting for the cooldown.

What the Arcane Salvager does to disenchanting and what the trap of the Trapper’s Workbench is for, is not known yet.

Where the blueprints drop

Tier 2 and 3 are learned from blueprints. Most sources are not known yet; these are.

Blueprint Where
Blueprint: Journeyman Campfire The Deadmines and Wailing Caverns
Blueprint: Cookie’s Feast Cookie in The Deadmines
Blueprint: Fermenter Ruins of Lordaeron
Blueprint: Tanning Rack Razorclaw the Butcher in Shadowfang Keep
Blueprint: Fishing Rack Fished up from pools

Legacy talents for camping

Three perks of the Legacy system help at a camp.

Perk Tree Effect
Field Guide Adventure Shorter cooldown on placing camp objects
Permanence Resourcefulness Camp buffs last longer
Reagent Economy Resourcefulness Tier 1 camp objects cost no materials

Sleeping bag and food

Two things stack with the camp buffs. The Cozy Sleeping Bag gives Well-Rested, and you can lie in it at the camp; the quest chain is in the sleeping bag guide. Most cooked food in Forever also gives bonus experience, see the Cooking guide.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a tradeskill to get a camp buff?

No. Anyone who sits at a campsite for a minute gets the buffs of the objects placed there, whatever tradeskills they have.

Do camp buffs stack with class buffs?

No. Each camp buff is a slightly weaker version of a class buff, such as Arcane Intellect or Power Word: Fortitude, and does not stack with it.

How many objects fit in one camp?

3 around a Basic Campfire, 5 around a Journeyman Campfire and 10 around an Expert Campfire. Each character places one object, so a full camp needs several players.
