Cooking in WoW Forever: experience food, campfires and recipes
Cooking is a secondary tradeskill, so it never costs you one of your two main slots. In WoW Forever it matters from level 1: most dishes add bonus experience, and every camp starts with a campfire from Cooking.

What changes in Forever
- Experience from food. Most cooked food gives 5% more experience from kills while you are
Well Fed, writes Wowhead. - One stat per dish. Recipes you know are tweaked to favour a single primary stat, according to Warcraft Tavern.
- New recipes, such as
Plated Armorfish and
Savory Whimsyfin Delight. - Campfires. Cooking builds the fire of every camp; see the camping guide.
- More than 100 recipes, of which the trainers teach only about a dozen. The rest come from vendors, drops, quests and the Azeroth Commerce Authority.
Cookie’s Stirring Rod from Cookie in The Deadmines now cooks 25% faster.
Ranks and where to learn them
| Rank | Skill | How |
|---|---|---|
| Apprentice | 1 to 75 | A Cooking trainer |
| Journeyman | 75 to 150 | A Cooking trainer |
| Expert | 150 to 225 | The book |
| Artisan | 225 to 300 | The quest Clamlette Surprise, from character level 35 |
The Expert book is sold by Shandrina, northeast of Talondeep Path in Ashenvale (/way 49.6 67.0), for the Alliance, and by Wulan in Shadowprey Village, Desolace (/way 26.2 69.8), for the Horde. It can be traded, so it also shows up at the Auction House.
Artisan comes from Dirge Quikcleave in Gadgetzan, Tanaris (/way 52.6 28.0). You can gather what the quest asks before you pick it up:
Giant Egg, from many monsters; the Sandfury trolls and the Dunemaul ogres around Gadgetzan are a good source.
Zesty Clam Meat, from
Big-mouth Clam, which drops from monsters such as Steeljaw Snapper on the east coast of Tanaris.
Alterac Swiss, from innkeepers and food vendors.

Leveling from 1 to 225
Fish is the easiest way: the recipes are cheap, raw fish is cheap at the Auction House, and almost no recipe needs a second ingredient. Catch it yourself with Fishing if you like.

Transformation food
Savory Whimsyfin Delight gives an orc version of the ninja and pirate costumes since the beta build of 1 October; the Murloc and Ogre forms of the first days were placeholders, says Blizzard. The recipe needs Cooking 85 and drops in Redridge Mountains; more in the post about it.
Savory Deviate Delight, with its ninja and pirate, is still there too.

Campfires and camp objects
| Object | Skill | Recipe from | What it does |
|---|---|---|---|
| 20 | Trainer | Cooking fire, room for 3 camp objects | |
| 90 | Room for 5 camp objects | ||
| 140 | A feast with a Stamina buff | ||
| 200 | Room for 10 camp objects | ||
| 300 | Workstation for some recipes |
The skill is what the blueprint needs; the campfire kits themselves need a bit more, 140 for the Journeyman and 220 for the Expert Campfire. Every campfire needs
Flint and Tinder.

How it works
The Cooking window sorts the recipes by the stat they raise, with Camping on top. The only workstation is a fire, and your own campfire counts. Meat comes from beasts, fish from Fishing, spices from the Cooking vendors.
Recipes from Merchant’s Favor
Kalsey Sanden at the camp of the Azeroth Commerce Authority at Three Corners (/way 10.8 72.7) sells six smoothie recipes for Merchant’s Favor.
| Recipe | Skill | Merchant’s Favor |
|---|---|---|
| 25 | 30 | |
| 100 | 30 | |
| 125 | 30 | |
| 180 | 60 | |
| 200 | 60 | |
| 250 | 90 |
The Horde gets them from Aza’bek of Durotar Supply and Logistics.
