Fishing in WoW Forever: trainers, leveling and gear
Fishing is a secondary tradeskill, so it never costs you one of your two main slots. Little changes in the fishing itself in WoW Forever, but the fish matter more: Cooking turns them into food with a buff and 5% bonus experience.

What changes in Forever
- Fish food is better. Many Cooking recipes with fish were buffed or added, such as
Baked Salmon,
Poached Sunscale Salmon and
Plated Armorfish, and most food now gives 5% more experience from kills, writes Wowhead. - Camp objects: Fishing makes the
Fish Bowl, the
Fishing Rack and the
Fishing Hut. - Useful classes: a Shaman reaches pools more easily with
Far Sight and
Water Walking, and a Hunter feeds raw fish to the pet.

Leveling
Fishing levels by the number of fish you catch; the zone does not change that. Below 25 skill, use a
Shiny Bauble. From 25 you catch something every time in a starting zone.
| Skill | Where |
|---|---|
| 1 to 75 | Any starting zone |
| 75 to 150 | A capital: Stormwind, Ironforge or Darnassus; Orgrimmar, Thunder Bluff or Undercity |
| 150 to 225 | Dustwallow Marsh (easier for the Alliance) or Stranglethorn Vale (easier for the Horde) |
| 225 to 300 | Not in the guide yet |
From 150 you need 225 skill for a catch every time in those zones, so use lures there. The capital still works if you do not care about money.
The skill each zone needs
| Can fish from | Always a catch from | Zones |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 25 | Dun Morogh, Durotar, Elwynn Forest, Mulgore, Teldrassil, Tirisfal Glades, Zephras Isle |

The Fishing Extravaganza
The fishing tournament in Stranglethorn Vale, Master Angler, changes in two ways in Forever, writes Wowhead:
- The first 50 players win, not only the first one who hands in.
- Every winner gets the
Arcanite Fishing Pole and an
Extravagant Extravaganza Coin.
The coin buys one prize of your choice:
Hook of the Master Angler,
Surfer Shoes,
Master Angler’s Fishing Hat,
Empty Fish Bucket or
Bitter Baitling.
Camp objects
| Object | Skill | Recipe from | What it does |
|---|---|---|---|
| 20 | Trainer | 8% all stats at the camp | |
| 140 | Lures and uncommon fish nearby | ||
| 300 | Lures and rare fish nearby |
How a campsite works is in the camping guide. What to cook with your catch is in the Cooking guide.
Frequently asked questions
Does the zone matter for how fast Fishing levels?
No. Fishing levels by the number of fish you catch. A harder zone gives no more skill per catch, it only needs more skill to fish there.
How do I get Artisan Fishing?
At character level 35 and Fishing 225, Nat Pagle in Dustwallow Marsh gives Nat Pagle, Angler Extreme. Catch his four fish and Artisan is yours.
