City of Dalaran opens in the fourth beta week

The City of Dalaran dungeon can be tested on the beta of World of Warcraft: Forever. It opened with a new build on 8 October, the fourth week of the beta. The level cap stays at 30, and all earlier content stays available.

Blizzard listed the changes in the development notes on the forums. The build also brings 20% more experience in dungeons, new values for many spell ranks, wands that sell for silver again and a level 40 requirement for Truthseeker’s Bow.

Combat and Rage

Players can again swap several weapons within one global cooldown, for example with a macro from a two-handed weapon to a sword and shield. Several bugs in the Rage gained from taking damage are fixed. Rage was based on the health of the player instead of the attacker, so more Stamina meant less Rage. Absorbs, critical strikes and crushing blows are now counted correctly.

Blizzard also changed the basis for that Rage. It was balanced around a Warrior with 50% armor, which fits a tank but not a Warrior who quests. It is now based on 20% to 40%, depending on level. The typical Warrior or Druid should gain more Rage from taking damage, Blizzard says.

Legacy, interface and PvP

  • Every beta player has completed the Legacy Challenge and gets 16 Legacy Points to test the system. A respec of Legacy Points costs 1 silver on the beta. Plan them in the Legacy calculator; how the points work is in the post about the 16 points.
  • The Cooldown Manager now supports every class, all racial abilities and trinkets. Consumables follow later.
  • Voice chat can use Discord, chosen by the party leader. Group Finder postings can pick a voice mode.
  • The inspect window is new, and the Quest Log shows quest types and level requirements.
  • Critical strikes in PvP no longer have reduced effect.
  • Monsters without loot can be interacted with again, as in Classic.

Quests

The new Gelkis and Magram quests in Desolace now start at level 35 (was 30), and their rewards will require level 35 after an upcoming hotfix. Quests and monsters around Shadowvale and Bandarion Keep in Tirisfal Glades are higher in level. Stitches is hostile again when he walks into Darkshire, and the Lazy Peons in Durotar are, in the words of Blizzard, lazier.
