Rogues get Shank and Death Mark in a big rework

The Rogue changes the most in the development notes Blizzard posted on 2 November. Every Rogue gets Shank, a cheap off-hand strike that gives Energy back. Subtlety ends in Death Mark, a finisher that stores your damage and releases it later. And a new passive, Poised, makes the first hit after a rest cheaper, for Rogues and for Druids.

Two new abilities

Ability Level What it does
Shank 24 5 Energy, 10 second cooldown. Strikes with your off-hand weapon for 50% weapon damage and gives 15 Energy back. It cannot miss. Rank 2 at level 44 gives 25 Energy
Poised Poised 18 Out of combat with full Energy you gain Poised: your next Energy ability costs 10 less

Druids learn Poised at level 32, for their Cat Form. Deadly Poison and Instant Poison now scale twice as hard with attack power.

Assassination

Talent Change
Blood Splatter New, 1 point in row 3: Rupture lasts 6 seconds longer, Garrote 9 seconds
Relentless Strikes Now 5 points in row 5: 4 to 20% chance per combo point to restore 25 Energy
Venom Now a passive in row 5: Shank raises your poison damage by 30% and your chance to apply poisons by 20% for 6 seconds

Lethality Now 2 points for 10 or 20% more critical strike damage
Mutilate Moves up to row 7, deals 90% weapon damage (was 75%)

Dual Wield Specialization Now 2 points for 25 or 50% more off-hand damage
Flawless Execution Takes 15 Energy off (was 10)

Subtlety

Talent Change
Death Mark New, 1 point in row 7. A finisher and curse, 25 Energy, 20 yards, 10 second cooldown. It stores part of your damage per combo point, Garrote and Rupture at twice the rate, and deals it after 6 seconds
Boot Knife New, 5 points in row 6: up to 100% chance that Shank adds 2 combo points
Quick Getaway New, 2 points in row 4: one extra Sap target, and up to 30% movement speed for 3 seconds after a Sap
Ghostly Strike Your next Ambush or Garrote within 7 seconds needs no Stealth
Opportunity Now 5 points: up to 20% more damage for Backstab, Garrote, Ambush and Mutilate
Hemorrhage Now raises Rupture and Garrote damage by 15%
Setup Lower chance: 15, 30 or 45%

Quietus, Cutthroat, Thousand Cuts, Improved Distract Removed

Blizzard also fixed Hemorrhage and Ghostly Strike, which hit much too hard with a dagger.

What this means for our guides

The new trees are not in the game data yet. Our talent calculator and the guides for Assassination, Combat, Subtlety and Rogue leveling still show the old trees. We update them as soon as the new trees are in the game.
