Scarlet set pieces go blue, with two new bonuses
The Chain of the Scarlet Crusade now drops on the beta of World of Warcraft: Forever. Three of the six pieces went from green to blue. The bonuses at 4 and 6 pieces are new: a Holy proc and a shield.
On 3 October the new bonuses were only known from the files of the beta, as described in the post on the Scarlet Monastery loot. Now the pieces drop in the dungeon, and their tooltips show the bonuses and the stats.
The set bonus
| Pieces | Classic Era | Forever |
|---|---|---|
| 2 | +10 Armor | +10 Shadow Resistance |
| 3 | +1 Defense | +30 Attack Power against Undead |
| 4 | +5 Shadow Resistance | |
| 5 | +15 Attack Power against Undead | +1% chance to hit |
| 6 | +1% chance to hit |
The Armor and the Defense are gone. Shadow Resistance and Attack Power against Undead are doubled, and the chance to hit moves from 6 to 5 pieces.
Enraging Light triggers when the wearer takes damage, with a chance of 15%. For 10 seconds, melee attacks then deal 20 extra Holy damage, three times as much against Undead. The tooltip lists a cooldown of 15 seconds between procs.
Scarlet Guardian triggers on damage at or below 20% health. It gives a shield that absorbs 480 damage for 10 seconds, once every 4 minutes.

The pieces
All six pieces are mail. The leggings bind when picked up, the other five when equipped.
| Item | Level | Forever | Classic Era |
|---|---|---|---|
| 32 | 136 Armor, 12 Strength, 10 Stamina | green, 123 Armor, 8 Strength, 7 Stamina | |
| 33 | 153 Armor, 12 Strength, 10 Agility | green, 139 Armor, 8 Strength, 7 Agility | |
| 31 | 104 Armor, 11 Stamina | green, 95 Armor, 8 Stamina | |
| 39 | 236 Armor, 21 Strength, 10 Stamina | level 38, 233 Armor, 20 Strength | |
| 34 | 250 Armor, 8 Strength, 19 Stamina | unchanged | |
| 30 | 161 Armor, 5 Agility, 12 Stamina | unchanged |
The belt, the gauntlets and the wristguards gain the most. The leggings get one level more, with slightly higher stats. The chest and the boots stay as they were.

Less experience in dungeons
Mail wearers such as Warriors, Paladins and Enhancement Shamans have long sought this set. In Classic, farming it also paid off in experience. On the beta that is less true: monsters in dungeons give less experience, and dungeon quests give 50% less bonus experience.

Blizzard wants players to level in the open world, and green monsters give less experience too. Several pieces of the set drop from trash in the Scarlet Monastery, so groups that skip monsters see fewer of them. Whether the experience values change before launch, is not known.
