Blizzard gives every raid boss in WoW Forever a chase item
Every raid boss in World of Warcraft: Forever drops a chase item. Blizzard said so in an interview with The Sun at BlizzCon 2026, reports Wowhead. In the same interview the team talked about the new zones, the talent trees and the experience curve, which does not change.
The Sun spoke with Kris Zierhut, Principal Designer, and Michael Nuthals, Senior Encounter Designer.
The new zones
Zephras Isle is the starting area of the Skyborne Elves and lasts until about level 12. The island floats in the elemental plane of Skywall and is slowly falling, so its people look for allies. Players pick a faction at creation, and that decides the class: Alliance play Mage, Horde play Shaman.
Mount Hyjal shows the zone between Warcraft III and The Burning Crusade and Cataclysm. It holds two raids: Hyjal Summit for 20 players and Barrow Deeps for 10.
The Riverglades lie north of Redridge, and many of the stories continue from there. The zone holds humans, orcs, ogres and a goblin outpost, plus a Black Market Auction House and the dock at Steamwheedle Port.
Shen’dralas sits at the south end of Desolace. The Valley of Bones sends players after the monsters there, and the story of the Magram and Gelkis centaurs continues. The ruins of Shen’dralas connect to the story of Dire Maul.
Leveling
The experience curve stays as it was. Original Classic never asked players to do every zone to reach 60, and Forever adds more paths: The Riverglades instead of something else, for example.
The Riverglades and Shen’dralas sit in the range where leveling slows down, and Hyjal sits close to 60, where it slows further. The team wants players to quest and explore there rather than grind.
Experience from monsters in dungeons goes down and experience from dungeon quests goes up sharply.
Talents
Forever uses the original talent system: three trees per class, seven rows, five points per row to open the next. The one-point talents at 11, 21 and 31 stay, and a fourth arrives at 16 points.
Some talents disappear, some change and many are new. The goal is that all 27 talent trees work for dungeons and raids. Which talents change, Blizzard has not published.
