RestedXP and Journey compared

RestedXP and Journey are both leveling addons with routes written by speedrunners. Both show the next step in a small window, point an arrow at the next objective and cost a one-time price. The difference is age and focus: RestedXP is the established name across every version of WoW Classic, and Journey is new and built for World of Warcraft: Forever.

What RestedXP offers

RestedXP sells its Forever guide per faction. Its compact window shows one step at a time and can accept and hand in quests for you. The same company has routes for the other versions of WoW Classic, including separate Hardcore routes, so players who switch between versions keep one addon. Its Forever route is ready from level 1 to 35. Levels 35 to 60 follow after launch; until then the Classic Era route covers them. A route that levels through dungeons is in the works.

What Journey offers

The free part already has Forever’s new quests, the Skyborne start on Zephras Isle and the class quests of the new race and class combinations. Hard quests can be skipped, and the route adjusts when a quest is not available. On 4 November, levels 30 to 60 start on the classic route; about a week later Forever’s new quests are added, around five levels every four to five days. A purchase covers every character on one Battle.net account, and a refund is possible within 14 days. More in the post about Journey. Journey builds its Forever routes on Joana’s original 1 to 60 routes; how it relates to Joana’s Guides is in Journey and Joana’s Guides compared.

Which one fits whom

  • You want to try before you pay. RestedXP is free up to 20 and Journey up to 30, so you see the route first.
  • You buy before 4 December. Journey is 5 dollars cheaper for one faction and 15 for both.
  • You also play other versions of WoW Classic. RestedXP covers them with the same addon.
  • You want the whole route to 60 ready on launch day. Neither has it. RestedXP has Forever routes up to level 35 and adds 35 to 60 after launch. Journey’s 30 to 60 route starts on the classic path and gets the new quests over the following weeks.

Frequently asked questions

Which is better for WoW Forever, RestedXP or Journey?

Both are leveling routes by speedrunners with a one-time price. Journey is built for Forever and free up to level 30, so you can try it first. RestedXP is the established name and also has guides for the other versions of WoW Classic.

Is Journey free?

Levels 1 to 30 are free for everyone, also after launch. Levels 30 to 60 are a one-time purchase that unlocks on 4 November.

Which one is cheaper?

Until 4 December, Journey costs 25 dollars for one faction and 30 for both, against 30 and 45 for RestedXP. After that Journey costs 30 and 45 as well. Both give 10% off through our links.

Can I use both?

Yes, but not at the same time. Both follow your quest log, so you can level to 30 with the free part of Journey and then switch. Running both at once mostly gives two arrows.
