Horde players are attacked on sight in Dalaran
Members of the Horde are no longer welcome in Dalaran under any circumstances in World of Warcraft: Forever. Since the beta build of 15 October, the city attacks them on sight. The City of Dalaran dungeon stays open to them.
Until now, the quest chain for the
Dalaran Sewer Key also gave the Horde free access to the city in the open world. That is over, Blizzard writes in its development notes. The key itself still opens the way into the dungeon, as described in the guide to the City of Dalaran. A related bug is fixed too: Horde players could gain reputation with the Kirin Tor.
The build has many more changes. The new racials are in a post of their own, the class changes and the buffs for the whole raid in another. Below is the rest.
A tutorial for new players
Forever gets a new tutorial for players who start without experience, and the tutorials in the game are updated. The level-up messages that show stat gains and new talent points are back. Bloom is now a slider under the advanced graphics settings.
Interface
- The Auction House shows a column with the level an item can be equipped at, and the stats of items with a suffix, such as “of the Monkey”.
- Nameplates of enemies and NPCs far above or below the player are shown at a shorter distance, so the screen is less busy. The nameplate of the current target stays.
- The unit frames and the header of the minimap have a new look.
- Spells with several ranks count as one entry in the Cooldown Manager.
- The Scrolling Combat Text gets detailed options for text on yourself and on your target. A search for “Threat” in the options finds the Aggro Display.
- The /who list understands subzones: a character in Northshire Valley shows up for “/who northshire” and for “/who elwynn”.
- The group finder updates the dungeon list correctly when party members have different levels.
Gamepad players get a swing timer in the center reticle and can use trading, the Guild and Communities window, the chat channels and the Transmog window. Quest rewards and quests from objects work with a gamepad too.
Items and the Legacy system
- Scrolls now trigger the global cooldown. Mystic Mushroom and the Insight enchant now raise Spirit as they should.
- Many items made with a tradeskill sell for less to a vendor.
- Draught of Predatory Senses becomes a combat potion, with a shorter duration.
- Legacy: Bartering no longer gives a discount on training and repairs. The Quick and the Dead affects more Priest spells.
Master Chef and
Luremaster move one column to the left; that is only visual.
Quests
- Ashenvale: more Bloodtooth Guards for “Raene’s Cleansing”.
- Darkshore: the furbolg camps count for “How Big a Threat?”. “For Love Eternal” can always be turned in to Cerellian Whiteclaw. In “Body and Heart” the Cenarion Moondust is no longer used up, so Lunaclaw can be summoned again.
- Mulgore: the Novice Warriors no longer flag players for PvP in “Sparring Match”.
- Stormwind: “The Attack!” is no longer an escort quest and can be shared, even while the event runs. Talk to Tyrion to start it.
- Teldrassil: Lord Melenas no longer evades at low health in “Twisted Hatred”.
- Wetlands: Dragonmaw Orcs, Gnolls and Incendicite Ore respawn faster and more evenly.
- Zephras Isle: Halaan’s Gift works again for “The Anchors of Zephras”.
PvP and fixes
Battleground Marks of Honor now stack to 30 (was 20). Creatures regenerate health again out of combat. Some Horde characters held the Night Watchman’s Torch wrongly; that is fixed. Drinks show the right total Mana regeneration in their tooltip, and fog at low shadow settings is no longer extra bright.
All of this applies to the beta. Whether it stays the same for the launch on 4 November, Blizzard does not say.
