Leveling routes for WoW Classic

A leveling route is the order of zones and quests that gets a character to the level cap with the least wasted time. Every expansion of WoW Classic has its own route, and each route has its own page with the zones per faction, the dungeons worth a run and the habits that save the most time.

Expansion Levels Route
Classic Era 1-60 Leveling route 1-60
TBC Anniversary 60-70 Leveling route 60-70
WotLK Classic 70-80 Leveling route 70-80
Cata Classic 80-85 Leveling route 80-85
MoP Classic 85-90 Leveling route 85-90

Each class also has its own guide per expansion on Classes, with talents per level and a rotation.

What works in every expansion

  • Leave a zone on time. Once most quests turn green, they give far less experience, and the next zone gives more.
  • Group quests close together. Pick up everything in a hub, finish what lies on the same path, and hand it all in at once.
  • Collect dungeon quests first. One run of a dungeon with its quests gives much more experience than the same run without them.
  • Use rested experience. Logging out in an inn or a capital city doubles the experience from kills for a while.
  • Avoid deaths. A corpse run costs more time than a careful pull.
  • Save gold for travel. The mount at level 40 in Classic Era and flying in later expansions change how fast you move.

Addons that help

  • Questie is free and shows quests and their objectives on the map and the minimap. It does not choose the order.
  • Guidelime is free and shows routes step by step; how good a route is depends on who wrote it.
  • RestedXP and Zygor are paid addons that show a full route step by step, with an arrow to the next objective.
