9Blackrock Spire was closed on the beta, which stopped at level 30. This guide follows the dungeon as it was in Classic, with the boss levels from the Forever data. Blizzard has not said whether the dungeon changes for Forever.
Getting there
Blackrock Mountain lies between the Searing Gorge and the Burning Steppes. Take the door next to the meeting stone of Blackrock Spire and follow the path up, past a few elites. Or climb the big chain, follow the wall to the balcony with the gnome Bodley and jump down in front of the portal. Inside, the door upstairs to the left leads to Upper Blackrock Spire; leave it closed for this run.
The route
The numbers match the maps above. Crowd control helps in almost every pull.
- The ogres. Highlord Omokk (1) waits with two adds. The rare Spirestone Butcher, Battle Lord or Lord Magus can stand in the pack before him.
- The trolls. Shadow Hunter Vosh’gajin (2) stands with two Smolderthorn Shadow Priests.
- The long hall. War Master Voone (3) waits at the end of the troll hall, down the big ramp.
- The spiders. Mother Smolderweb (4) sits at the top of the webbed tunnels. The rare Bannok Grimaxe can sit in the orc camp before her, and Crystal Fang appears after her.
- The ogre room. Urok Doomhowl (5) only comes with the event at the Tribute Pile.
- The storehouse. Quartermaster Zigris (6) waits in the next rooms.
- The worgs. Halycon (7) attacks with her pups; Gizrul the Slavener (8) comes in right after her death.
- The end. Overlord Wyrmthalak (9) waits in the Chamber of Battle.
The bosses
Highlord Omokk
Put him against a wall away from the group:
Knock Away throws the tank around. Crowd control one or both adds and kill the free one first. Watch his Enrage.
Shadow Hunter Vosh’gajin
Crowd control both Shadow Priests if you can, otherwise kill one first. Hex can hit several players. Decurse
Curse of Blood.
War Master Voone
No adds, but he hits very hard. Tank him with the back against a wall, and keep melee players out of the Cleave in front of him.
Mother Smolderweb
Crystallize stuns the tank, and Mother’s Milk poisons and stuns others. Immature
Venom Sacs from the spiders around her cure the poison. Turn her away from the group and keep everyone else behind her or at range.
Urok Doomhowl
Put Omokk’s Head and the Roughshod Pike on the Tribute Pile in the ogre room. Waves of elite ogres flood in; every 30 seconds the Roughshod Pike kills one ogre at the pile. Crowd control as many as you can. When Urok appears, clear the last ogres and let the tank take him. Intimidating Roar fears the group.
Quartermaster Zigris
A short fight. Spread out because of Stun Bomb.
Halycon and Gizrul the Slavener
Kill the low Worg Pups first, then Halycon. Gizrul joins right after her death, so eat and drink quickly. He enrages and puts Infected Bite on the tank.
Overlord Wyrmthalak
Tank him against the wall behind him because of Cleave and Sweeping
Slam. At 50% he calls adds: crowd control them, kill him, then the adds. He drops General Drakkisath’s Command for the Alliance.
What is not known yet
- The rewards of the twelve quests in the Forever data.
- The loot: 35 of the 37 Classic items are not in the Forever data yet.
- Changes for Forever: the dungeon was closed on the beta. In Classic, Mor Grayhoof was summoned in Voone’s room for the Tier 0.5 quests; whether those quests exist in Forever is not known.
