The Deadmines: the dungeon guide for WoW Forever
The Deadmines is the hideout of the Defias Brotherhood under Moonbrook in Westfall: a long mine that opens into a cavern with a pirate ship. Edwin VanCleef waits on the top deck. The dungeon itself is the same as in Classic, but nearly all of its loot is new in WoW Forever.

Getting there
The entrance is the Defias Hideout, the large building in the southwest corner of Moonbrook at /way 42 72. Go down through the maze of caves below it until you reach the portal at the bottom.
On the way down, a side passage leads into the part of the mine that is full of undead. That area lies outside the dungeon, but every monster there is elite. Two quests of Wilder Thistlenettle are done there, so bring the group.
The Alliance has Sentinel Hill close by. The Horde has no quests in the Deadmines and a long road through Westfall, but the loot is the same for both factions.
The route
- The tunnels. A straight path through the mine to the first boss, Rhahk’Zor, who guards a door.
- The junction. Past the door, Miner Johnson can stand on the left. He is a rare and is not always there.
- The lumber camp. Clear the Goblin Woodcarvers, then pull Sneed’s Shredder.
- The foundry. Gilnid works among Goblin Craftsmen and Engineers. Clear at least one side of the room first.
- The cove. The tunnel opens into a large cavern. Cross the docks to the ship, where Mr. Smite waits on the lower deck.
- The ship. After Mr. Smite, Cookie is on the left. Climb up to Captain Greenskin and finally to Edwin VanCleef on the top deck.
- The way out. A tunnel at the back of the ship leads outside. Many groups kill Cookie on the way back, from the lower deck by the gangplank.

Collecting Memories
Wilder Thistlenettle in the Dwarven District of Stormwind wants 4 Miners’ Union Cards. They drop from the undead outside the dungeon, in the haunted part of the mine: Undead Excavators, Skeletal Miners and Undead Dynamiters. Foreman Thistlenettle does not drop them. Every undead there is elite.
Oh Brother…
The same Wilder Thistlenettle asks for
Thistlenettle’s Badge. Foreman Thistlenettle carries it at the far end of the haunted mine, a level 20 elite surrounded by other elites. Do this one together with Collecting Memories.

Underground Assault
The chain begins with Gnoarn in Tinker Town in Ironforge, who sends you to Shoni the Shilent in Stormwind. She wants the
Gnoam Sprecklesprocket, which drops from Sneed’s Shredder in the lumber camp of the dungeon.

Red Silk Bandanas
Scout Riell at Sentinel Hill wants 10 Red Silk Bandanas. Every monster with Defias in its name can drop one, Defias Miners included, but the elites drop them almost every time. The patrols of Evokers, Henchmen and Overseers, and the pirates in the deeper part of the dungeon, are the quickest source. The elites in the caves outside drop them too.

The Defias Brotherhood
Gryan Stoutmantle at Sentinel Hill only hands out this quest at the end of a long chain: six quests that all carry the name The Defias Brotherhood, and that take you across Westfall, to Lakeshire and back. The last step is to kill Edwin VanCleef and bring his head to Gryan.

The Unsent Letter
Edwin VanCleef drops An Unsent Letter, which starts this quest from level 16. Bring it to Baros Alexston, the City Architect, in City Hall at Cathedral Square in Stormwind. It is the first step of a long chain that continues with The Stockade Riots in The Stockade.

Paladins of the Alliance also come here for The Test of Righteousness, the end of the
Tome of Valor chain that ends with
Verigan’s Fist: the
Whitestone Oak Lumber drops from the Goblin Woodcarvers near the start. Horde Paladins get a counterpart that is new in Forever, A Moon-Kissed Blade, writes Wowhead. The chain starts in Bandarion Keep in Tirisfal Glades; Lumina Windsinger hands out the quest in the crypt in Silverpine Forest, /way 43 40. Both are in the dungeon guide.
Destruction in Deadmines
New in Forever. Alba Fairmoon at Sentinel Hill in Westfall, /way 52.4 53.0, looks for the source of a poison that ruins the land. The trail leads to the forge in the Deadmines. The chain can be picked up from level 9; its last quests are level 18.
- Testing the Wells. Take a water sample with the
Well Water Sample Kit at the wells of the Jansen Stead and the Molsen Farm, in the northeast of Westfall. - Murloc Gills. Bring 7 Longshore Murloc Gills from the murlocs along the coast.
- The State of the Mines. Kill 4 Kobold Diggers and 6 Riverpaw Miners in Jangolode Mine or the Gold Coast Quarry.
- Moonbrook Espionage. Collect 8
Suspicious Industrial Supplies from the crates around Moonbrook. - A Dynamite Plan. In Stormwind, hand in 10
Rough Dynamite, made with Engineering from
Rough Stone and
Linen Cloth, or bought at the auction house. - Explosive Consultation. Back to Alba Fairmoon in Westfall.
- Destruction in Deadmines. Plant the Extra-Destructive Explosives by the forge, in the room of Gilnid. Alba then waits at the exit of the Deadmines, in the hills behind Moonbrook, /way 38.4 83.4. Reward: 4,050 experience and 50 reputation with Stormwind.
- Destruction in Deadmines, a second quest with the same name. Use the detonator at the exit. Reward: 680 experience, 5 silver and 50 reputation with Stormwind.
No item reward is known for the chain.
The bosses and their loot
The loot per boss comes from Wowhead, with the stats from the files of the beta.

|---|---|
| Blue, Agility and Intellect, and level 17 instead of 20 | |
| A caster staff: up to 24 spell damage and healing, and Fire Resistance | |

Edwin VanCleef

Partners in Crime
First Mate Band is a new ring from Mr. Smite: 4 Strength and 5 Stamina at level 17. It is the first half of a set with
