The entrance is the Defias Hideout, the large building in the southwest corner of Moonbrook at /way 42 72. Go down through the maze of caves below it until you reach the portal at the bottom. Defias elites walk the road to Moonbrook, so meet up at the entrance.
On the way down, a side passage leads into the haunted part of the mine. It lies outside the dungeon, but every undead there is elite. Two quests of Wilder Thistlenettle are done there.
The Horde has no quests here and a long road through Westfall, but the loot is the same for both factions.

The route
Almost a straight line. The numbers match the map above.
- The tunnels. A straight path through the mine to Rhahk’Zor (1), who guards a door.
- The junction. Past the door, Miner Johnson can stand on the left. He is a rare and is not always there.
- The lumber camp. Clear the Goblin Woodcarvers, then pull Sneed’s Shredder (2).
- The foundry. Gilnid (3) works among Goblin Craftsmen and Engineers. Clear at least one side of the room first.
- The cove. The tunnel opens into a large cavern. Cross the docks to the ship, where Mr. Smite (5) waits on the lower deck.
- The ship. After Mr. Smite, Cookie (6) is on the left. Climb up to Captain Greenskin (4) and finally to Edwin VanCleef (7) on the top deck.
- The way out. A tunnel at the back of the ship leads outside. Many groups kill Cookie on the way back, from the lower deck by the gangplank.

Important trash
Defias patrols. Evokers, Henchmen and Overseers walk through the mine in groups. Watch them before you pull a pack, or a patrol joins the fight.
The foundry. The room of Gilnid is packed with Goblin Craftsmen and Engineers. Pull them one group at a time and keep area damage under control.
The ship. Pirates and Squallshapers stand close together on the decks. Captain Greenskin is easy to pull by accident from below, so approach his deck with care.

The bosses
Rhahk’Zor
A level 19 ogre with two Defias Watchmen that attack from range. Mark the Watchmen and kill them first.
Rhahk’Zor Slam stuns the tank, so the healer keeps the tank topped up through it.
Sneed
Sneed fights inside his Shredder. When it breaks, he jumps out with a new threat table, so the tank has to pick him up again. Sneed casts Disarm. Every party member who gets the tank’s attention suffers
Distracting Pain.
Gilnid
A level 20 goblin with a Goblin Craftsman and a Goblin Engineer at his side. Kill the adds first. His Molten Metal lowers the threat of the tank, so the healer heals through it and damage dealers hold back for a moment.
Mr. Smite
A level 20 tauren with two stealthed Defias Blackguards; kill those first. The fight has three phases, each one starting with
Smite Stomp, a stun on the whole group. In the second phase he fights with two weapons and hits much harder: the moment for the tank’s cooldowns.
Cookie
Optional, on the left of the ship after Mr. Smite.
Cookie’s Cooking heals him and can be interrupted. He also uses
Acid Splash.
Captain Greenskin
A level 20 goblin with a Defias Squallshaper, a Defias Pirate and a Defias Companion. Kill the two elite adds first. His Poisoned Harpoon needs a poison cure, and Cleave hits whoever stands in front of him.
Edwin VanCleef
A level 21 elite with two stealthed Blackguards. At half health he calls two more with
VanCleef’s Allies. Kill the first pair, then crowd control or ignore the second pair and burn VanCleef. Make sure Captain Greenskin is dead before you pull him. He drops
An Unsent Letter, which starts a quest.
