Entrance. The main gate of Stratholme at the end of the stone bridge in the northwest of the Eastern Plaguelands. It leads straight into the Living side.
235789Stratholme was closed on the beta, which stopped at level 30. This guide follows the dungeon as it was in Classic, with the boss levels from the Forever data. Blizzard has not said whether the dungeon changes for Forever.
Stratholme is one instance with two sides. The Living side belongs to the Scarlet Crusade, the Undead side to the Scourge of Baron Rivendare. The two are connected through King’s Square Gate, which needs the
Key to the City.
Getting there
The main gate lies at the end of a long stone bridge in the northwest of the Eastern Plaguelands. Light’s Hope Chapel, with most of the quest givers, is the nearest flight point.
For the Scarlet Bastion, one player needs
The Scarlet Key. It lies in Doan’s Strongbox, in the room of Arcanist Doan in Scarlet Monastery: Library. The key opens three doors: the Bastion Door, the Hoard Door and the Hall of High Command.
The route
The numbers match the map above.
- The gate. Skul (1) is a rare that sometimes waits near the main gate.
- Festival Lane. The Unforgiven (2) calls a few ghosts when the fight starts.
- Market Row. Hearthsinger Forresten (3) is a rare that walks part of Market Row.
- The postboxes. Open three of the six postboxes with keys from the Stratholme Courier for Postmaster Malown (4).
- Crusaders’ Square. Timmy the Cruel (5) runs out once the square is clear.
- The Scarlet Bastion. Inside wait Crimson Hammersmith (6), Cannon Master Willey (7) in the armory and Archivist Galford (8) in his library.
- The Crimson Throne. Grand Crusader Dathrohan (9) waits in the last room and turns into Balnazzar.
The postboxes
Six postboxes stand around the Living side. The Stratholme Courier, an elite ghost near one of them, drops three random postbox keys. Each opened box gives a parcel with junk and letters, and three Undead Postmen. The third box calls Postmaster Malown.
| Postbox | Where |
|---|---|
| King’s Square | Near the gate to Market Row |
| Ezra Grimm’s | In front of the tobacco shop in King’s Square |
| Market Row | At the east end of Market Row |
| Festival Lane | Across from the fountain |
| Crusaders’ Square | Next to the door of the Scarlet Bastion |
| Elders’ Square | Next to the Service Entrance Gate |
The bosses
Skul
A rare near the main gate. A tank and spank fight: interrupt his spells.
The Unforgiven
He calls a few ghosts at the start. Kill them first, then the boss.
Hearthsinger Forresten
A rare. Fight him away from patrols. His Enchanting Lullaby puts players to sleep for 8 seconds, so the tank may need to pull him back. Spread out against
Multi-Shot.
Postmaster Malown
Three Undead Postmen come with him and stack Wailing Dead. Only
Turn Undead and
Shackle Undead work on them. Pull the boss away from the controlled adds, kill the free ones first, dispel his fear and remove curses.
Timmy the Cruel
A tank and spank fight.
Heal the tank well when he enrages.
Crimson Hammersmith
He appears when someone clicks the pattern on the floor. Do that between pulls, and say so first.
Cannon Master Willey
He calls riflemen. Control them, or pick up a cannonball and fire one of the cannons in the room at them. Ranged players and the healer stand behind a cannon, away from the boss.
Archivist Galford
Spread out: his spells hit several players at once. Burning Winds can lift the tank, so the boss may switch targets for a moment.
Grand Crusader Dathrohan and Balnazzar
The fight starts easy. Then Dathrohan turns into the demon Balnazzar. Tank him in the middle of the room and spread out. Dispel
Deep Sleep, and stand at full range against
Psychic Scream.
What is not known yet
- The rewards of the six quests in the Forever data.
- The loot: 33 of the 46 Classic items are not in the Forever data yet.
- Changes for Forever: the dungeon was closed on the beta. In Classic, Jarien and Sothos were summoned here for the Tier 0.5 quests; whether that summon exists in Forever is not known.
