Entrance. Through the portal of Blackrock Spire, high in Blackrock Mountain. Inside, the Seal of Ascension opens the door to the left of the entrance.
12456Blackrock Spire was closed on the beta, which stopped at level 30. This guide follows the dungeon as it was in Classic, where Upper Blackrock Spire was a dungeon for 10 players. Whether Forever keeps that size, and whether the dungeon changes, Blizzard has not said.
Getting there
Blackrock Mountain lies between the Searing Gorge and the Burning Steppes. Take the door next to the meeting stone of Blackrock Spire and follow the path up, past a few elites. Or climb the big chain, follow the wall to the balcony with the gnome Bodley and jump down: you land in front of the portal without a fight.
The portal puts you in Lower Blackrock Spire. One player with the Seal of Ascension opens the door to the left of the entrance, and the way up starts there.
The route
The numbers match the map above.
- The Hall of Binding. Three players click the Blackrock Altar to wake Pyroguard Emberseer (1). Waves of Incarcerators come first.
- The Rookery. Solakar Flamewreath (2) appears with the Father Flame event, together with whelps and handlers.
- The side hall. Goraluk Anvilcrack (3) stands in the same room as the rare Jed Runewatcher. Many groups skip them.
- The stadium. Warchief Rend Blackhand (4) watches from a ledge while waves of dragonkin come at you, then comes down on Gyth.
- The Furnace. The Beast (5) waits behind a room of adds and stealthed assassins.
- The throne. General Drakkisath (6) waits with two Chromatic Elite Guards.
The bosses
Pyroguard Emberseer
Kill the Incarcerators with area damage before he wakes.
Fire Nova hits everyone in melee, so the healer and the ranged players stand away from him.
Solakar Flamewreath
Pull him against the wall where he appears and pick up the adds before they reach the healer. Kill the adds first.
War Stomp hits everyone close to him.
Goraluk Anvilcrack
A plain melee fight. Backhand stuns the main tank; the second tank taunts during the stun.
Warchief Rend Blackhand and Gyth
The main tank takes Gyth, the second tank Rend. Rend uses
Whirlwind and Thunderclap; Gyth breathes Corrosive Acid and fire, so stay behind him. At 20% they split up: kill Gyth first, then Rend. A player with the Seal of Ascension equipped can use it to call Vaelstrasz, who heals the group.
The Beast
Clear the room first; Blackhand Assassins may hide there. Flamebreak hits everyone and knocks them back, and he fears and charges random players. The tank stands with the back against a wall and stays high on threat, so The Beast comes back to the tank after a charge.
General Drakkisath
The hardest fight of the dungeon. Each tank takes one Chromatic Elite Guard; kill the guards first, then Drakkisath. Turn him away from the group because of his breath and Cleave. Conflagration takes the tank out for a moment, so the second tank taunts. In Classic, many groups had a Hunter or Mage lead him around The Furnace while the guards died.
What is not known yet
- The rewards of the twelve quests in the Forever data.
- The loot: 37 of the 40 Classic items are not in the Forever data yet.
- The group size: 10 players in Classic; Blizzard has not said what Forever does.
- Changes for Forever: the dungeon was closed on the beta. In Classic, Lord Valthalak was summoned in The Furnace for the Tier 0.5 quests; whether those quests exist in Forever is not known.
