Zul’Farrak was closed on the beta, which stopped at level 30. This guide follows the dungeon as it was in Classic, with the boss levels from the Forever data. Blizzard has not said whether the dungeon changes for Forever.

Getting there

Zul’Farrak lies in the northwest corner of Tanaris, at /way 39 20. Fly to Gadgetzan and ride northwest through the desert; the portal sits at the end of a canyon. Gadgetzan has three of the quests, so stop there first.

The route

Zul’Farrak is one big open troll city. You walk in through a canyon and can take the bosses in almost any order. The numbers match the map above.

  1. Antu’sul’s cave. Through a crack in the wall on the right, just before Theka’s area, lies the cave of Antu’sul (1).
  2. The graves. Theka the Martyr (2) walks between the shallow graves.
  3. The witch doctor. Witch Doctor Zum’rah (3) stands in the room behind Theka.
  4. The sacred pool. Hydromancer Velratha (4) guards the courtyard with the pool where you summon Gahz’rilla (5).
  5. The stairs event. Free Sergeant Bly and his crew from their cages on top of the pyramid. Waves of trolls run up the stairs, and the last wave brings Nekrum Gutchewer and Shadowpriest Sezz’ziz (6).
  6. The chief. After the event, Weegli Blastfuse blows open the door to Chief Ukorz Sandscalp (7).

The stairs event

Kill everything around the pyramid first, so nothing joins the waves. When you open the cages, Sergeant Bly, Raven, Oro Eyegouge, Murta Grimgut and Weegli Blastfuse fight with you on the stairs. Hold the top: the trolls come up in waves from every side, and area damage does most of the work.

After Nekrum and Sezz’ziz, talk to Weegli Blastfuse first, so he sets his charges on the door. Only then talk to Sergeant Bly. His crew turns on you, and if Weegli is still with them, you have to kill him too and lose the way to Chief Ukorz Sandscalp. Kill Murta Grimgut, the healer, first, then Oro Eyegouge, then Raven, and Bly last.

The bosses

Antu’sul

Pull him out of his cave with a ranged ability and fight him outside, after clearing the basilisks around it. He calls Sul’lithuz Broodlings at the start and near the end of the fight, drops totems and heals himself: interrupt every heal, kill the totems and hit the adds with area damage.

Theka the Martyr

A short fight. At low health he casts Theka Transform and is immune to physical and Shadow damage for a while. Casters keep going; a stun just before that point can stop the transform. Dispel Fevered Plague when you can.

Witch Doctor Zum’rah

He stays friendly until you step into his room. Then zombies climb from the graves and he drops totems. Interrupt his Shadow Bolts, kill each totem at once and the zombies as they come. The healer stands at the top of the stairs, out of reach of the zombies but in sight of the group.

Hydromancer Velratha

She stands around a corner in the courtyard of the pool, so she is easy to pull with her guards by accident. Clear the area first, interrupt her spells and kill her totems.

Gahz’rilla

A summoned hydra. One player rings the gong at the pool with the Mallet of Zul’Farrak. Gahz’rilla Slam throws the whole group into the air, so fight in the water or under the ruin to the left of the entrance arch, where the stones break the fall. The healer keeps everyone topped up for the landing.

The Mallet. Take the Sacred Mallet from Qiaga the Keeper, a level 50 elite at the Altar of Zul in The Hinterlands. Use it on the altar at the top of Jintha’Alor, east of there, to make the Mallet of Zul’Farrak. Bring it into the dungeon.

Nekrum Gutchewer and Shadowpriest Sezz’ziz

The last wave of the stairs event. Kill Nekrum first and interrupt every heal Sezz’ziz casts on him, then switch. Sezz’ziz has Psychic Scream, so the healer stays at range.

Sergeant Bly

See the stairs event above: talk to Weegli first, then kill the crew from healer to tank.

Chief Ukorz Sandscalp

He waits behind the blown door with Ruuzlu. Kill Ruuzlu first. Turn the Chief to the wall: his Cleave hits everyone in front of him.

The rares

  • Zerillis, level 45, patrols near the Shadowpriests before the first turn to Theka. Pull him around a corner, or he only uses ranged attacks.
  • Dustwraith, level 45, by the pool of Gahz’rilla, with a few guards.
  • Sandarr Dunereaver, level 45, on the way out after Gahz’rilla.

What is not known yet

  • The rewards of the eight quests in the Forever data.
  • Four items of the Classic loot that are not in the Forever data yet.
  • Changes for Forever: the dungeon was closed on the beta.
