Entrance. Through the door on the northern wall of the central courtyard of Dire Maul, with the Crescent Key from Dire Maul East.
1234567Dire Maul was closed on the beta, which stopped at level 30. This guide follows the dungeon as it was in Classic, with the boss levels from the Forever data. Blizzard has not said whether the dungeon changes for Forever.
Getting there
The north wing, Gordok Commons, opens from the door on the northern wall of the central courtyard of Dire Maul. It needs the
Crescent Key from Dire Maul East and puts you on the upper level of the room with Guard Mol’dar and Stomper Kreeg. Dire Maul North shares its instance with Dire Maul West: the Athenaeum connects the two.
Keys and doors
- The Gordok Courtyard Door needs the
Gordok Inner Door Key, from the chest in the middle of the room where Guard Fengus walks. - The Gordok Inner Door needs the
Gordok Courtyard Key from Guard Mol’dar. A Rogue with Lockpicking 300, a
Powerful Seaforium Charge or a Truesilver Skeleton Key also open it.
The route
The numbers match the map above.
- The first room. Guard Mol’dar (1) and Stomper Kreeg (2) stand in the big room behind the entrance.
- The chest. Guard Fengus (3) walks around the chest with the courtyard key.
- The walkway. Guard Slip’kik (4) walks below the ramps. Knot Thimblejack sits in chains nearby.
- The captain. Captain Kromcrush (5) waits behind the room with the Ogre Tannin baskets.
- The throne. Cho’Rush the Observer (6) and King Gordok (7) fight together at the end.
The Tribute Run
In a Tribute Run only King Gordok dies. The guards, Captain Kromcrush and Cho’Rush the Observer stay alive. What you need:
| Item | Amount | With Leatherworking or Tailoring |
|---|---|---|
| Frost Oil | 1 | 1 |
| 1 | 1 | |
| 8 | 4 | |
| Bolt of |
4 | 2 |
| Rune Thread | 2 | 1 |
- Mol’dar and Kreeg. Walk past them, and open the inner door with Lockpicking, a charge or a skeleton key instead of Mol’dar’s key.
- Fengus. Wait until he walks away from his chest and take the courtyard key.
- Slip’kik. Repair the Broken Trap on his path with the Frost Oil and the Thorium Widget. He freezes, and you walk past.
- Kromcrush. Take an Ogre Tannin from a basket in the room before him, make the
Gordok Ogre Suit at Knot Thimblejack, put it on and talk to Kromcrush. He walks off. - Gordok. Kill King Gordok and keep Cho’Rush alive: one player keeps interrupting Cho’Rush.
The Gordok Tribute chest appears next to the throne. With every guard alive it holds the most rare items; if any guard died, only uncommon ones. Then Mizzle the Crafty appears and gives the King of the Gordok buff. With it, Stomper Kreeg sells drinks and the three guards give a buff of two hours each: Mol’dar’s Moxie (Stamina), Fengus’ Ferocity (Attack Power) and Slip’kik’s Savvy (spell crit). The buffs disappear when you die.
The bosses
The guards
Guard Mol’dar, Guard Fengus and Guard Slip’kik have the same kit:
Knock Away, Shield Charge and Enrage. Pull them against a wall so nobody flies off, and save a defensive cooldown for the Enrage. Ranged players stay at full range.
Stomper Kreeg
Kill the ogres around him first.
Whirlwind and
War Stomp hit everyone in melee. Booze Spit lowers your chance to hit by 75% and makes you drunk. He enrages near the end.
Captain Kromcrush
Stay behind him: Mortal Cleave hits whoever stands in front and lowers healing on them.
Intimidating Shout fears the group. At about 50% health he calls Gordok Reavers; the tank takes them, or crowd control them.
King Gordok and Cho’Rush the Observer
They fight together. In a full clear, kill Cho’Rush first and interrupt his
Healing Wave and
Mind Blast. King Gordok hits the tank hard and uses War Stomp. A
Fear Ward or
Tremor Totem helps against
Psychic Scream.
