Entrance. The crypt on the island of Caer Darrow in the southeast of the Western Plaguelands. The door needs the Skeleton Key.
Scholomance was closed on the beta, which stopped at level 30. This guide follows the dungeon as it was in Classic, with the boss levels from the Forever data. Blizzard has not said whether the dungeon changes for Forever. The map from Blizzard shows the version that came later, so this page has none.
Getting there
The crypt lies on Caer Darrow, the island in the lake in the southeast of the Western Plaguelands. Alliance players come from Chillwind Camp, Horde players from Tirisfal Glades. The door needs
Skeleton Key, from the chain The Key to Scholomance. Inside, Rattlegore drops the
Viewing Room Key, which you need to go further.
The route
- The Reliquary. The first large room, with the first deed for Barov Family Fortune.
- The porch. Kirtonos the Herald only appears when someone puts the Blood of Innocents in the brazier.
- Jandice Barov. Use the torch on the south wall of the room with the Plagued Hatchlings; below it waits Jandice Barov.
- The Great Ossuary. Rattlegore waits in the basement and drops the Viewing Room Key.
- The Viewing Room. Marduk Blackpool and Vectus only fight when someone has the quest for them.
- The Laboratory. Ras Frostwhisper waits in the Alchemy Lab.
- The Barov Family Vault. Six rooms with Lady Illucia Barov, Lord Alexei Barov, The Ravenian, Lorekeeper Polkelt, Doctor Theolen Krastinov and Instructor Malicia. When all six are dead, Darkmaster Gandling appears in the middle.
The bosses
Kirtonos the Herald
He changes between gargoyle and human form. As a human he curses the group; remove the curses. As a gargoyle, stay out of his front because of Wing Flap and Swoop. The tank stands with his back to a wall.
Jandice Barov
She makes copies of herself. Mark the real one before the fight.
Remove Curse of Blood and dispel Dark Plague, and wait with damage until the real Jandice is clear.
Rattlegore
He hits hard and comes with one add. Kill the add first, then him. The tank keeps his back to a wall against
Knock Away; ranged players stay out of
War Stomp.
Death Knight Darkreaver
Only for the Shaman quest. Waves of spirits come first, then Darkreaver himself, a tank and spank fight.
Marduk Blackpool and Vectus
Both only fight for a quest. Melee players do not hit Marduk while his Shadow Shield is up, and stand behind him. Against Vectus, spread out because of
Flamestrike, and keep ranged players out of
Blast Wave.
Ras Frostwhisper
Clear the room first. Keep the tank in sight of the healer, also when he fears. Interrupt as much as possible; ranged players stay at full range against Chill Nova.
The six rooms of the vault
- Lady Illucia Barov dominates players. Control them.
- Lord Alexei Barov is the hardest: Unholy Aura and Veil of Shadow hit the whole group, and he comes with two adds. Control the adds, remove Veil of Shadow and kill him first.
- The Ravenian throws players with Knock Away. Clear the room first.
- Lorekeeper Polkelt has little health but almost always comes with adds whose corpses explode.
- Doctor Theolen Krastinov hits very hard and enrages at 50%. Kill him fast.
- Instructor Malicia casts a lot. Interrupt her and she is easy.
Darkmaster Gandling
He appears when the six are dead, and attacks right away. He teleports players into the side rooms, where they fight a few monsters before they can return. Plan for the tank or the healer to be the one he takes. Ranged players stand on the stairs.
What is not known yet
- The rewards of the ten quests in the Forever data.
- The loot: 52 of the 71 Classic items are not in the Forever data yet.
- Changes for Forever: the dungeon was closed on the beta. In Classic, Kormok was summoned here for the Tier 0.5 quests; whether that summon exists in Forever is not known.
