Entrance. Inside the High Seat of Ironforge, where Magni Bronzebeard sits, a cobwebbed passage opens on the left at /way 43.5 52.0. Follow it all the way down to the portal. The path runs above lava, and a fall is lethal.

Getting there

Alliance. Walk into the High Seat of Ironforge, where King Magni Bronzebeard sits. A cobwebbed passage opens on the left at /way 43.5 52.0. Follow it all the way down to the portal. The path runs above lava, and a fall is lethal.

Horde. A long walk through Alliance land: from the Undercity through Silverpine Forest, the Hillsbrad Foothills, the Arathi Highlands, the Wetlands and Loch Modan to Dun Morogh, and then past the guards of Ironforge. Take off your gear before the guards, so it does not lose durability when you die.

The route

A straight line with one detour through a cave. From the portal:

  1. The first chamber. Tormented Souls and Enraged Apparitions, easy pulls. Take the corridor on the left, to the west.
  2. Anvilmar’s Rest. The Ghostly Attendant gives An Ancient Grudge in the room before. Faldrim Anvilmar walks around the tomb in the middle.
  3. The Dark Iron side. Leave through the southeast corridor. Kegs of Seaforium Blasting Powder stand next to several packs: shoot them from range and they blow up the pack.
  4. The cave. Magmatus stands between Dark Iron Dwarves.
  5. Back into the halls. A pack of four with two kegs beside it waits up the tunnel. Shoot both kegs at the same time.
  6. Plunder patrols the hallway right after.
  7. The Reliquary of Kings. North over a bridge guarded by Lesser Stone Golems, with Durgen Dirgehammer. The Treaty of Understanding lies behind one of the vault doors.

On the way out, hand in An Ancient Grudge with the Ghostly Attendant.

Important trash

The ghosts in the first rooms die fast. Past Faldrim Anvilmar the Dark Iron Dwarves take over, and those packs deserve attention.

Dark Iron Engineer. Throws bombs at its main target, again and again, and the blast hits everyone nearby. The spot is chosen when the cast starts, so step away and the bomb misses completely.

Dark Iron Looter. Poisoned daggers and a lot of damage. Usually with other Dark Iron Dwarves or a few non-elite Bloodhound Runts. Kill Looters first.

Dark Iron Summoner. A caster with a heavy Fireball that also calls up a Fiery Assistant, a fire elemental. Both casts can be interrupted and the Summoner can be stunned. Pull around a pillar or a wall, out of sight, so it has to come to you.

Lesser Stone Golem. Hits hard and fast and moves faster than you, so running away does not work. Alone it is manageable; next to another pack it hurts. The last pack before the final boss holds a Golem, a Looter and a Summoner: Polymorph the Summoner, then kill the Looter and the Golem.

Bloodhound Runts. Their bite leaves Infected Wounds for 5 minutes: more physical damage taken. Without a class that removes disease, a Simple Poultice from First Aid or the Dwarf racial Stoneform cures it.

The four bosses

Faldrim Anvilmar

An undead Dwarf who patrols around his tomb in Anvilmar’s Rest, between the ghosts. The danger is pulling him together with a pack. Clear a spot first, then pull him there. He casts Mind Blast and puts Anvilmar’s Curse on the tank for 10 minutes: attack and casting speed 20% slower, but immune to poison and bleed effects. A player who removes curses makes this easier.

Magmatus

A fire elemental with a Dark Iron Summoner at his side, and more trash around. Take out the patrolling Summoner before the pull. In the fight the tank drags Magmatus away from the group while the rest kill the Summoner: his Fire Nova is instant and hits everyone close to him. Combust sets a random player on fire for 12 seconds.

Plunder

A golem that patrols his hallway, with one ability: Knock Away, which throws a player far. Clear the trash first, then the tank pulls him into a corner. Stand so a knock never sends you into a pack.

Durgen Dirgehammer

The final boss, behind the Dark Iron incursion. He walks left and right across his platform in the Reliquary of Kings, with two Lesser Stone Golems at his side and Dark Iron Looters around the room. Clear every Looter before the pull: his Fear sends players running for 8 seconds. Then kill Durgen as fast as possible and the Golems after him; together they hit the tank very hard. He also puts Rend on the tank, 44 physical damage every 3 seconds. A Golem that dies before a wipe does not come back.

A Shaman who drops a Tremor Totem before the pull makes the fear harmless. After the fight a switch in the back vault opens the locked doors, so the way out is short.

What is not known yet

  • Whether the Horde gets a faster way in. A hidden quest with a teleport for the Horde is rumoured, but nobody has found it.
  • Whether rewards and levels change before the launch on 4 November.

The walkthrough with Jurdi’s video is in the post The Hall of Thanes holds four bosses and five quests. All dungeons are in the dungeon overview.
